Flooding In Vegas?

Watching the news..Looked like cars are driving in about 2 feet of water and they say it will only get worse...Looks like miserable weather there...Anybody confirm this or do you need canoes to get around? :(

Rochard 12-29-2004 09:18 PM

I can't speak for Vegas, but I'm here in Phoenix about four hours away. It's been raining here for two days. I know some parts of Arizona has been hit harder than others. It will clear up before we go to Vegas.

Spunky 12-29-2004 09:18 PM

Guess it doesn't matter...bring your rain gear :pimp

Damn it. I am supposed to be there for New Year's.

Mr Pheer 12-29-2004 10:44 PM

i dont know you people saying it will get better before the show are getting you info from, but the forcast I'm looking at says rain every day next week. And when it rains here, it floods.

OzMan 12-29-2004 10:49 PM

There was a flash flood warning posted last night.

It was raining all last night and most of the last couple days. They are hoping it won't fuck up the Fireworks on NY Eve

There is a nice blanket of snow on the mountains, so you might be able to duck up to Mt Charleston for a bit of snowboarding if you get bored during the show.

NaughtyRob 12-29-2004 10:56 PM

Don't worry about it. Here in Vegas it can flood one day and be 80 the next.
:pimp

MrIzz I told you the Tsunamis would hit us.

Spunky. Just about anytime and everytime it rains here we have flooding and at times bad flooding. They run during typhoon season an infomercial on local cable access that addresses the vegas flooding issue every year...it's about a 2 hour program. In the past it used to be really bad until these people finally learned how to design sewers etc.

There are streets on inclines here where you won't find any opening to a sewer until it gets to the bottom of the hill...so all you have is a ton of water flowing down and pooling at different intersections until it finally reaches the sewer opening at the bottom.

Another issue is when you're driving out on flat roads in the boonies and all of a sudden you hit a dip...that dip whether you realize it or now is now filled with about 4 to 5 feet of water and now you're floating down a ravine out in the middle of the desert...LOL

There have been times since I moved here where the streets got so bad a firetruck was stuck in the water.

Anyway to get back to the weather. The weather is supposed to continue this way at least to the weekend. They even discussed that there may be reason to cancel the fireworks display if the winds continue. Hope not.

Warden 12-29-2004 11:21 PM

Yeah, it's been raining like mad in SoCal!

NaughtyAlysha 12-29-2004 11:25 PM

That sucks... the Internext Curse, I guess. Hurricanes in Florida, and flooding in Vegas.

venus 12-29-2004 11:32 PM
