I too replaced the MSI ati 9800pro with the X800XT - it doubles the performance. Now every games is smooth, in high detail when running at the LCD's native 1280x1024.

Why not get the GeForce 6800 Ultra Sli ?

Also, the Platinum Edition is better than the regular x800

DarkJedi 12-30-2004 04:03 AM

Looksliek Radeon X850 XT is already out

6800 Ulta Sli = huge power hog, I needed to buy a new power supply unit for running 2 ultras in sli, new motherboard too and a new processor. Plus all the noise that 2 cards will produce will just spoil the fun.

The X800 XT platinum edition is the same as the XT, you just pay the premium for a small overclock.

AkiraSS 12-30-2004 11:41 AM

"The ATI unit still fits into one slot and draws only 65 watts at peak performance. In contrast, the new nVidia top-of-the-line processor requires two slots and has a peak power draw of 110 watts."
