Jerry Orbach Dies

really liked that guy, great actor - saw him on Broadway a bunch of times as a kid plus of course Law and Order.

cancer just sucks.

NickPapageorgio 12-29-2004 08:30 AM

Yep good actor for sure. He always reminded me of Morton Downey Jr. for some reason. Not really his attitude but his looks.

smashface 12-29-2004 08:30 AM

He was great on Law and Order.

sickkittens 12-29-2004 08:31 AM

Sad news. He was a good actor. :( RIP

Entropy 12-29-2004 08:31 AM

That's what he gets. NOBODY puts Baby in a corner.

same here. there was a physical resemblance, plus both were New York City guys, ethnic types, one Irish the other I think Jewish. Voices/accent were fairly similar too.

bvds 12-29-2004 08:34 AM

He was the whole reason I used to watch Law and Order - I liked his dry one liners.

yea I found it quite weird that he had left like he did on the show made me wonder as to the reason why he was leaving.... my first thought was earlier this year that they were supposed to be spinning L&O off again (similar to how csi is positioning) Now I see that was true... I didnt hear much about the spinoff tooo long after he left so then I started thinking something else was wrong.... but never this.... I really liked the show when he was on cause he added personality to the show but dennis florina doest add that same flavor to the show. This is sad...we have lost another great... RIP

DX 12-29-2004 08:52 AM

he left to work on another L&O spinoff... "Trial By Jury" I believe..

GatorB 12-29-2004 09:18 AM

He left because it made the show more real because actually in NYC, cops have to retire at 63 and he was 68. I mean EVENTUALLY he had to go.

That's what I had thought, too.

I liked him a lot. Glad I watched his final show on L&O.

RIP

Yeah, he had a lot of character, for sure. The new guy is too shady to like.
He played the dad in Dirty Dancing, too.

Classic. I loved when COnan O'Brien would do cheesy skits making fun of them. And speaking of Conan, Jerry Orbach was great when he came on the show.

"Try to remember the kind of September
when life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
when grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
when you were a tender and callow fellow,
Try to remember and if you remember the follow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
that no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender that
dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender that
love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
altho you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
without the hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
the fire of September that made us mellow.
Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow."

adios El Gallo :(

GatorB 12-29-2004 09:24 AM

I'm sad now, I first saw him in Dirty Dancing and holy jeez did I see that movie over 100 times, then I was a die hard Law and Order fan ... that stinks.

QuaWee 12-29-2004 02:13 PM

Damn, that must of been the reason he left the show. He was a good actor, RIP.
