i can't get the 'p2p' search to work. can anyone else? so i guess if you don't have the client, you can't search the p2p network? it just returns a 404 page.

Yes.... it just launches the client

you may want to route the person to a 'download the client' page rather than a 404 (unless it's just my browser screwing it up).
