Damn...my best girlfriend has to have a double mastectomy.

And her insurance won't pay for reconstruction. :(
I feel so bad for her.

im sorry for her, i hope she does well with the surgery

chase 12-28-2004 08:11 PM

Thanks, guys. It's hard to know what to say...even though it's not a vital organ....a woman's breasts are a big part of her sexuality and identity.

iFliPcEss 12-28-2004 08:15 PM

that is indeed a sad news, sorry to hear that

Spunky 12-28-2004 08:16 PM

How unfortunate :Oh crap One of the worst things a woman has to go through

Crazy1 12-28-2004 08:28 PM

Amazing.. My prayers are with you... regards,

iwantchixx 12-28-2004 08:33 PM

and insurance companies say they are there to help.. BULLSHIT!

Good luck to her on her ordeal.

My mom had a mastectomy a few months ago; it's a very extreme and intrusive surgery. She's going to need a lot of support, it's a nasty recovery time with a lot of possible complications.

We live in Canada so everything is covered, even reconstruction, but I don't think my Mom is opting to have it done. She just doesn't want any more surgery after everything she went through on top of chemo and radiation. Her philosophy is, being alive with one breast is better than dead with two.

BuckLover 12-28-2004 08:36 PM

That sucks! :(

digifan 12-28-2004 08:46 PM

So sorry to hear that.. even if the surgery is going well she'll need lots of emotional support.

So glad she's okay...I can't imagine losing my mom. She had uterine cancer and a hysterectomy when I was 10, but it was early enough that her life wasn't in danger yet.
Thanks for the kind words everybody.

reynold 12-29-2004 02:24 AM

i'm sorry for her

Greg Jacobson 12-29-2004 02:26 AM

Sorry for that news.

Just curious, what is her age?
