Should I join Netflix?

Anyone have any good reviews or horror stories worth sharing?

NickPapageorgio 12-28-2004 04:37 PM

So far my experience with them has been excellent. No complaints at all.

Wiggles 12-28-2004 04:38 PM

I haven't heard anything bad about them, everything i've seen has been rather good, never tried them though.

wyldblyss 12-28-2004 04:41 PM

I'm too lazy to bother with anything like that. Having to mail them back...waiting for new ones. I am just too impatient.

Yo Adrian 12-28-2004 04:41 PM

YES you should join, I joined up a couple of months ago and can't believe I didn't do it sooner.. great service, no complaints.

SykkBoy 12-28-2004 04:56 PM

excellent service all around

emthree 12-28-2004 04:59 PM

Great service for lazy people. The only complaint I have is that they double billed me for my first month, but whatever.

Netflix is the best. I've been with them for a year and have no complaints at all.

LadyMischief 12-28-2004 06:34 PM

I think Rictor tried them for a while.. ask him or Laura :)

Peaches 12-28-2004 06:35 PM

I've been a member 5 years this January. I love them! :)

Netflix is a good service but now BlockBuster got rid of late fees. You can keep them for up to 7 days, if you keep them longer they just charge you the pre-viewed price. Basically the same service as NetFlix without any fees, just have to get your lazy ass out of the house.

tungsten 12-28-2004 06:38 PM

they are great, go for it

Rictor 01-29-2005 10:56 AM

They are okay but the longer you're a member, the slower you get your dvds. It's part of their business model. My advice is sign up for a few months the switch to Wal-Mart of Blockbuster then switch back. Keep switching a few times a year and you will get the best prices and service. They have a shipping algorithm that gives preference to new members. So if you have been a member for a couple year, it will show a long wait for new releases but if you are a new member it will show new releases as no wait.

thanks for the tip. Blockbuster is $9.99 first month, $14.95 after

Der Schleicher 01-29-2005 11:00 AM

heard that Netflix is good.

Chris 01-29-2005 11:02 AM

only if you are a big movie buff
if not - not worth it
i thought iw as a movie buff
i tried it
only ended up getting like two movies a month

QueensFL 01-29-2005 11:06 AM

Ok I was a member for a month or so, but had to cancel for a few reasons.

A few of the movies I received were either damaged in shipment or they would skip when I'd watch it. Then I noticed how slow it was for me to get new movies. They even claimed one movie I ACTUALLY DID return was not returned. I had to file a lost in mail thing. It was my first claim so it wasn't a biggie.

Bottom line: You won't get as many movies as you might think in a month period. And expect some of the dvds to skip or not play. I don't think they want you to get as many dvd's as possible since they are out to make $$$.

xclusive 01-29-2005 11:10 AM

blockbuster has opened up a lot more distribution systems and have done great for me.

JasonB 01-29-2005 11:27 AM

Blockbuster sucks ass.

Netflix rules. I've had a Netflix acct for 2 years & have never ever had a problem. If the mail fucks up, no problem. If you lose a movie, no problem. Plus they have tons & tons of good indie & foreign movies. Movies that you would never ever find at any blockbuster store.

Babagirls 01-29-2005 11:34 AM

Get Netflix, you'll love it!

its perfect for webmasters, you order online and the nice mailman drops them off the next day :winkwink:

sean416 01-29-2005 11:40 AM

Came accross this link: http://www.manuelsweb.com/netflix.htm
worth reading before you sign up.

Sheri Santiago 01-29-2005 11:41 AM

I considered joining at one point, but didn't because I figured I'd use it for a week and never use it again

Vanilla DeVille 01-29-2005 11:44 AM

I have had Netflix for over three years now and LOVE it. I even lost a dvd once and they never charged me or anything for it. They replaced it with no questions asked.

plyndrty 01-29-2005 11:56 AM

I must of joined way early because it seems like it was years ago when I canceled my membership. The reason was due to the fact that the DVD's they sent me were all scratched up. I got tired of pushing my DVD player through the scratch by hitting fast forward just to finish the movie.

Now from what I here they are pretty good but I have a DVD collection of over 200 plus movies now.

Bottom line is I rather just buy the movie :2 cents:

nothing but good

Pornwolf 01-29-2005 12:20 PM

Netflix is worth every penny. If they charged double they'd be worth that too!

Houdini 01-29-2005 12:28 PM

The one thing that sucks about Netflix is their layout. Unless you already know the titles you want, you can't find shit without scrolling page after page and then you only get descriptions. The new releases section is always the B new releases, so people won't all get the A list ones right away. They should learn a thing or two about layout from Amazon.

ChefJeff 01-29-2005 12:29 PM

Netflix rocks!

XpressMedia 01-29-2005 12:31 PM

Id rather just go to blockbuster. Too much BS mailing and waiting.

Slick 01-29-2005 12:57 PM

Netflix is a good service, but now with Blockbuster's movie pass it's better, you pay $19.99 and you get 2 movies out as long as you want. What makes it better is that you can swap those movies out as often as you want, whenever you want, so you could watch 2 movies tonight and get another 2 more tomarrow without having to wait for them to be shipped back to Netflix and then wait to get more in. PLUS better yet, you could even swap the movies out the same day.

I was in Netflix for over a year until Blockbuster came out with their program and comparing the two, I'd NEVER go back to Netflix because of the fact that Blockbuster is just 2 miles from my house, so it's not much work at all to swap out movies, plus I drive by it every day going to the bank or store, so that makes it easy. PLUS I like to actually browse through the movies personally.
