Allie and I have made our top 10 picks from the galleries submitted to the contest announcement thread. We now need your help with selecting the top 5 from the 10 galleries listed below. I voted for 5... It has that personal/amateur look.

Wow, that gallery is the best one in here, and it was not even selected for voting? This contest/poll seems a little bullshit to me.

All of them look good but I had to go with number 2. Just seemed a little naughty and nice at the same time. I like that. ;)

Gallery #6 is number one, it's clean and thumbs are good visable. The colors match the site, let's say in GFY style. I'd hit it.

I should have said this in the opening of the thread, ALL of the galleries submitted were very good! Allie and I truly appreciate the efforts of everyone who participated in the contest.

In regards to your gallery in particular, we both liked the overall design concept however we didn't really get the "snowflake like" graphics and how they fit in with our site.

Winter season = reason for snow flakes. I think it's a good gallery, alot better than some of the ones listed above tbh.

Like I said, Allie and I both really liked the overall design concept of the gallery however the "snowflake like" graphics just didn't seem to be a good fit for us.

Had the contest been for "seasonal templates" then it would have definitely been a winner. I don't think having a "seasonal element" to a "general gallery template" is a very good idea. Where is the relevance when a surfer hits the gallery in August?

That being said, there's no doubt it's a great gallery and if AsylumN is interested in removing those graphics and shooting us an offer to sell the gallery we'd probably be interested in purchasing it from him.

not that my opinion matters in this... but here it is anyway. it's a nice gallery but I wouldn't say it's the best but it does beat a few of the ones posted, it's waaaaay better then number #2, but the background is a bit overpowering the snowflake things are so bright it takes attention away from everything else in the gallery, and some of the fonts are a little fuzzy making them hard to read.
:2 cents: but still i can't believe #2 got picked over that one tho, i mean #2 butchered the hell out of Allies hair, it's hard to make a cute girl look bad, but the cut job on her pic makes her look like she spent the night sleeping in a gutter...

I voted for number 7. It's got the same feel as your website. I bet it'll do well.

Yeah, I would agree with that, I like that gallery because of it's style, so maybe it's not the best in everyone's eyes, but I think it is in the top 3 easily. At least it should have been given the chance to see where it finishes.

I'll go for #10.

It seems that many find that gallery nice. What is it about that gallery that stands out? As a designer, I like to hear things like this to improve my own style. Personally, I feel the colors are a bad choice and it seems imbalanced so it's a big surprise to me that it's doing so well. I'm not bashing the designer as we both have different styles completely, but apparently it has some qualities that people look for. What is catching everyone's eye about that one?

All are quite well designed but #8 is DEFINATELY the best IMHO.

I voted for gallery 2 because of the feel of it. I did not click on the larger image of the gallery. I did figure that since the gallery was made smaller in size the quality of it was also much smaller.

I do like it in that Allie looks very angelic in the upper pic. The thumbnail pics are right there, easy to view. At the bottom Allie looks like she is getting ready to be very naughty. I thought it had a good feel to it and it does match their site.

Buttons to her site are also very prominent and the gallery text let you know a bit about her.

NickP, visually #10 looks good as a screen shot. Being a designer myself, I will say the copy needs to be cleaned up but I doubt the guy who is jerking off will care.

I believe your gallery is number 6 and is very nice. I remember a couple of years ago; some people here posted and emailed me advice about my galleries, they said very pretty but will it get listed and convert, and how long did it take you to make that showcase.

I spent hours looking at shitty designs wondering why my galleries weren?t accepted or if they were, I just paid for bandwidth with a few sales. After awhile I just started to make simple designs and submitted?the hell with nice and unique design.

Took me awhile to figure out that making galleries that can be spider pays off rather than a really nice design. Oh, mine is #7 probably the ugliest for a design contest. :)

Mine in total took about an hour I suppose from start to finish. In all honesty, I design the way I do because it's usually what people ask me for. I can't imagine turning in anything other than a showcase to my clients. I stay in contact with many of my clients on the CTR and 9 times out of 10 it's great (everyone hits a bump now and again I guess). I will take this advice and try some new things though on a more simple route. I am always looking to improve myself and my work. Thanks for your input.

And to be honest, I thought yours would be doing much better. People are voting on looks and not how well the gallery matches the site and will probably convert. I think that gallery would do very well. It's just not my style to design that way.

if you leave it up to GFY to decide which is the winner by a poll...that seems a bit fucked to me...
your gonna get a bunch of fake nicks possibly, plus kids and people who know fuck all about design/conversion and shit voting it should really be decided by the people running the contest not the gen pub...too many loopholes for a Ukrainian style vote
