Well, as many of you already knew, we're out of the US for good. There are plenty of islands people don't want to fly airplanes in to. IN TO. :)

Ok, so after 2 months of preparation and literally thousands of dollars in paperwork and police background checks, we left about 10 days ago and crossed into Mexico. Got down the road about 70km after we crossed the puente internationale and had he pleasure of going back and wasting 7 hours on more paperwork, copias and stamps. This is a country that lives on copies of things. The more the better.

Well, there were no banditos to rob us, good thing because I left my big knife in the back of the car, lol. The roads were so-so, some cuentas or "toll roads" very good and some pretty bad. We sold the Infinity before we left and brought the Outback. Good choice :)

The gas was much better quality than US gas. There is only one gas station in Mexico and it's government run so the quality is controlled well.

Just went to wal-mart through the jungle of streets with very little rules and no markings or street signs whatsoever. Usually go to wal-mart about twice a day after something and am guaranteed to get lost either coming or going. Driving is a blast, I love driving here. I just drive like a taxi driver :)

I told my wife to stop screaming or get in the back seat and she said there's no fucking airbags in the back so .. no. We forgot milk. She wasn't in the mood to go back, LOL

Back to work as usual, but from now on I'll probably be checking traffic and orders twice a day and not sitting here for 15 hours answering ICQ and e-mail like before. Be patient, it'll get added if you order :)

Wish i were there..
I am snowed in currently..lol

We got out just in time. We had about 3 feet of snow and donated all of our winter jackets and boots a week before we left. I made a run for Texas and sure enough it dropped to 10 below at our old house.

I laughed all the way to MX that I didn't have to freeze my ass off fo a week :)

Just curious, why did you pick that side of Mexico instead of the Pacific side?

Absolutely. I have 2 pairs of shoes and they're both sandals. We only brought a suitcase full of clothes when we moved so we got to buy all new things.

I can dress up or dress down and still be 100% Mexico or Cuba Caribe :)

It was between Vallarta and Cancun. Vallarta is deep water and my wife is paranoid of shark waters.

Cancun is sheltered by the second largest barrier reef in the world, and the water from the reef to the shore is about 17 feet deep avg. and stays warm. Sharks tend to not like warm water too much and as far as I can tell, there has never been a documented shark bite here.

Bootyologist, yes, and not live in daily fear of potential persecution or prosecution for missing a loophole on something like font size or color in an otherwise legal and tax-paying profession. Fuck 'em. They can lick my ass. NOW I still pay their taxes but the difference is the first $160,000 is tax free BEFORE I start to itemize. They left their own butthole open on that one. :)

CyberAge-Dave, yes, at least out of the US for good unless someone is born or someone dies requiring a brief flight back. We came down on Mexican retirement documents and have authority to cross international borders or waters as we please and freely. We may go further into the islands or South America from here, but not back as US citizens.

It's not as hard as it is frustrating. Takes a bit of time and determination to get all of the paperwork correctly in order, but it's well worth it to get it right. I think a few quick spanish lessons would be wise if you don't speak some.

The Canadian (and Euro) currency exchange rate is very good here right now against the Peso ;)

So I take it you are now a full time resident? Cool! I have a timeshare down there that I get two (or try to anyways) a couple times a year. Ive often thought about making a move such as that. In fact, I am still considering Costa Rica.

You come on down here and I'll show you the real Cancun. The one the tourists never get to :)

Of course, we had to leave all of our furniture in the US. We just went and priced all brand new solid wood and hand painted stuff and pillowtop king and double mattresses, frames, headboards, couches, dressers, lamps .. all of it etc and I think I can do it all for about $3500.00 locally. Including hand made and hand painted dishes, hand blown glass ware ..

This is the place to be, all part of the REAL Cancun .. the street vendors and the bargains... With my love of margaritas and I found out they make some hand blown glasses which are about a liter, LOL ..
