How to prevent double logins to a members area?

How can you prevent two users to enter members area with same username at the same time??

If I understand correctly the method in which apache authenticates users prevents this (meaning it can't be done).

How to solve this problem???

well, you can do it by IP as well.
There are lots of solutions to the problem, and a lot of off the shelf solutions. You could give StrongBox a go.

StrongBox could be the solution. I have to look more into it...

Try this: http://www.pennywise.com
works really great, even in free trial mode.

either stick their IP in a database and bounce them to the login if it is a different IP than the "current" one...

Or you could cookie them with some sort of token and do the same thing.

Not a good idea since many are on AOL proxies which means a diff IP each page load.
