How to deal with autosubmits?
It's too bad that some people abuse them, but autosubmits can get out of hand... If you have a tgp, how do you handle them?
I find a few out of hundreds are good, the rest are pretty much tgp spam, so unless I know the webmaster... What do you do to cut down on this... is the tgpbrownie script any good at weeding them out, for example? |
Depends. Do you want to eliminate all autosubmitter traffic? If you do, the best thing to do is have the cgi script set a cookie in the submitters browser, then pass through another part of the script that requires the cookie. If the cookie isn't present, the script won't allow the submission. I did that for a client that was sick of autosubmitter posts. Seems to work well.
