It's horrible. I heard stories of people who drowned in their own hotel rooms because they couldn't get out or break the window because of the pressure.. :(

From what I read, it came out of no where. One second its a beautiful day, next second a huge tsunami. Prayers go out to the many thousands impacted by this horrific event.

Manowar 12-27-2004 09:41 AM

Holy shit. I thought it was still around ~10,000 :helpme

NaughtyJenn 12-27-2004 09:41 AM

Very sad indeed!

Theo 12-27-2004 09:45 AM

it's possible to reach 35000-40000 since a lot of bodies havent gone out to the shores yet.

DaddysGirl 12-27-2004 09:47 AM

So Sad...dont take tomorrow for granted!

chodadog 12-27-2004 09:49 AM

To be honest, i wouldn't be at all surprised if it tops 50 thousand. Sumatra is one of Indonesia's most populated islands, and so far the death toll there is something like 4000. I have no doubt that number will rise significantly.

Theo 12-27-2004 09:54 AM

Possible. it's craziness if you deeply think of it. You need over 6 hours to just mention the names of the dead people so far if you say a name every second. Everyone of them had a personal story to tell, their own dreams, expectations from life...

groark 12-27-2004 09:55 AM

I hope we wont see a tragedy this big too soon again

Babagirls 12-27-2004 10:08 AM

Yes it only took 2.5 hours to get there from the source. With no early warning protection they were doomed :(
