yes, sites are up, but can you reach their main site? Do you have webmail on their servers?

Hey guys.

Our affected clients should be receiving an email regarding the mail server outage later this evening or tomorrow.

On xmas eve, our mail2 machine had a raid array failure. After several hours spent repairing the array, we still had a ton of issues. No data was lost, but after the fixes, a few partitions were turned into a bunch of numbered directories and files. Getting qmail reset up around that took quite some time.

Currently, everything should be back to normal except our webmail module. Webmail will be online later today. We are currently working on it.

Two members of our support staff sacrificed most of their xmas holiday time to get things back up and running asap. Gotta love it when emergency on call shift actually has a big emergency to deal with.

Our mail and mail3 servers were functioning, so this only affected 30% of clients or so.

Oh, and our site is down because mail2 server actually has our website on it. I didn't realise our site was down till now. We have a new server running with our redesigned website on it, but the dns hasn't been switched over yet as we are still in the process of editing things. Our monitoring software is monitoring the new server, not the old site. I guess I should get the site up :)

Take your shit to Isprime.

gleem 12-28-2004 06:10 AM

been there for years, almost no downtime and a ridiculous amount of hand holding admining a ridiculously complex array of servers, last second server shuffles, recompiling Apache/PHP. They are the good guys in the world of hosting, trust me, I've been with a dozen hosts, only ones I stayed with. :drinkup

mine was only down christmas day and then came back the day after.. I know their webbased email panels are down, but if you use your email client software to connect should be back up..

Agreed... I've been with them for a few years now and even worked with them and they are the best guys I've ever dealt with. They go WAY beyond what they should for support... if they charged for how much they really do, then clients should be giving them millions. But they don't... they just go that extra mile on their own.

My email was down those 2 days, sent L0stMind a message and waited... poof.. back up again, running smooth.

andrej_NDC, if your email is still down... well, I don't know, maybe it's something on your machine or your mail account got fried in the array or something, but email should be back on from what I can tell. Either which way, I'm sure it's hardly ezprovider's fault... computers just have their way of not working.

andrej_NDC 12-28-2004 07:06 AM

is their site up for you? pls somebody give me ICQ contact, if they have one

Tam 12-28-2004 07:20 AM

I have been with these guys as well, for about 4-5 years.. worked with them, for them, and every other form of the word. It just doesn't get better than these guys.... my mail was down for part of Christmas, but that was all and this is the first time in many years that it has ever been down for more than a few minutes, so I knew it was something pretty bad. I have dealt with a LOT of hosts over the years, trust me, and not ONE has ever given me the support or even come close to the support I get from these guys. Night or day, holiday or not, they are always there to help.......

What I especially love about EZP is that if something goes wrong and it is their fault or anything, they tell me, they don't just go into auto "it's your fault, you did something wrong" mode like some I have seen, they say what happened and where the fault lies and always take care of us on it. ;)

Hang in there, they'll take care of you.

gleem 12-28-2004 09:22 AM

btw, if it's just their web based email that is down, 90% sure of that, right andrej?

Disaster planning is the name of the game. Zen-like question :) Can we prevent things before they happen?

L0stMind 12-28-2004 11:20 AM

Andrej, Trying to get you on ICQ now. Perhaps there is something wrong with your domains, because it is only webmail that should be down. Unfortunately, I cant match GFY nicks to client accounts, so I am unsure what domains to check on.

Reply to my icq and I will migrate your domains to our mail3 server myself :)
