as you say, there are a million girls with money problems, a million girls who don't want to work as a waitress at Chili's - so there is something that makes the very small % of girls who do porn do it besides economic reasons.

that's a factor but i don't think the % of girls who've been abused is that much greater in porn than in the general population of young women. higher but it's not like 1 out of every 2 girls in porn has been abused. it was interesting to hear recently from Jenna Jameson that she was gang raped as a teen. Girls decide to do porn for a variety of reasons- money of course, to be the center of attention, and more and more nowadays because they think it is cool. Some types of adult modeling and performance lead to fame and glamour and access to a celebrity lifestyle, parties, and potential mates. Some of those that do not lead to a more exciting lifestyle at least pay a lot. Some types of adult performance give the performer the opportunity to live out sexual fantasies she would never get to in real life. Sure, a cute girl can generally get laid with little difficulty, but lots of girls have very specific sexual desires that are not easy to satisfy.
