My PC keeps freezing!!!
One of the computers on my network keeps locking up every time I touch a key on the keyboard. It started doing this a few months ago and would only happen once in a while but now it's about 70-80% of the time. I have switched keyboards, formated the HD and reinstalled the OS and nothing is helping. Is my motherboard fried? Any clues???
:uhoh |
could be a network thing... maybe even the network card. Try using the computer without it and see if it still locks.

Never thought of that. Unfortunately the network card is built in to the mainboard. DOH!!!
:BangBang: |
Well, you can at least still disable it, at least for a test.
Uhmm... that is, if it doesn't lock up on you before you can disable it :winkwink: |

You can bypass your physical keyboard by using the Windows on screen keyboard. At least in Windows XP.
Click on My Computer. Then the Windows folder, System 32 folder, and find the file named osk. You can create a shortcut to it if you want to use it again. |
The problem is that just general locking up can be a result of just about any kind of hardware malfunction or conflict. There's no real way to be sure except by process of elimination.
video card, sound card, ram, cpu and so on.... and even then, you might still not get it. |
