What's it like to live in LA?

Im thinking of moving to a new big city, and LA is huge. Whats it like to live there?
Do you need a car to get around, I like living in a big city and just take taxi's everywhere like in new york or in boston.
What are the people like too?

You would definetely need a car if you plan on moving to L.A. Nobody uses taxi cabs unless they go to the airport of something... Everything is spread out in L.A.

You absolutely need a car in LA.
                  The women are very hot.
If you can put up with the suckass traffic, LA is a great place to live.

South Bay - Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach if you can afford those.

Nothing personal, but please stay where you are, we don't need any more foreigners here telling us how much they hate it here.
