How do you compress a MPEG?
I am tring to make some movie galleries, but the movies I have are too big. Is there any way to compress them to a smaller file size?
And if so how? |
Got to www.downloads.com
and find a mpeg slicer and make smaller files out of the bigger ones http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/rolleyes.gif |
I have already cut the files up. I dont want to make them any shorter than 10 seconds. But the files sizes are still too much. 1 meg is a bit large for 10 seconds of video

You'll need to grab some software like xing mpeg encoder, panasonic mpeg encoder or adobe premiere with LSX mpeg encoder. Then just find some clips that are of the quality and size that you are looking for and copy the properties of those files. You should be able to get the files down to around 200k. I'd give you the settings but I can't remember what I used to set mine too. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif |
With the NTSC 256kbps/second settings in WindowsMediaEncoder, encoding in ASF got an 8mb/1 minute video clip down to just over 1mb. Just remember, you always want to encode in an MPEG4 codec. ;> Preferrably ASF so your users don't have to download DivX..

OK,
I got the panasonic mpeg encoder, and I loaded up a mgeg, and lowered the quality settings, (fps, bit rate, size) but when I encode it, the output file is even bigger than then when I started. Any idea what I am doing wrong. I am a video editing newb http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/frown.gif |
Hey The Video Guru is here!
You need to make sure your FPS is low! Very low! With mpg go less than 8 FPS and a bitrate less than 80k. Should help newbie! |
