piece of shit computer

just recently my computer has been acting up. Take a look at the pic of my system monitor. I had this happen a while back and i reformatted and everything has been working fine for about 3 months until now... has anyone had a problem similar to this before or know anything i can do. Thanks in advance.

err... have you seen that TASK BAR!?!?!? kill some (if not all) those processes... now! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif

Backov 10-15-2001 11:02 PM

He's right - stop running so much crap in the tray, and you won't have such a high system usage. It's undoubtedly some programmed by a high school student POS VB app that's causing it.

Cheers,
Backov

naw, that's not it... those things have always been there... anyone know alot about RDRAM, i just installed another chip recently... they are both samsung but one is pc-800 and one is pc-711... can RDRAM run at different bandwidths like that? maybe this could be part of the problem

either way, consider removing some of those, seriously. or do some trial and error, remove the new memory and see if it's back to the normal performance.

Should not hurt having Diff. speed memory simms. All memeory will run at the speed of the slowest simms.

Hey PornJester,
I might be wrong but isn't RDRAM only supported by the new Intel processors ? It might be backwards compatible with the right motherboard etc, but I've never seen it installed on a less than 1.4Ghz PC.

blah, he could have a dual processor system, wouldn't help, processor usage would still be high.. Keep looking at those systray icons.. The only thing missing is AutoCAD http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

go into c:\windows\system\msconfig.exe

click the "startup" tab on the far right, and then uncheck EVERYTHING that does not have to be runnng to start your PC ...

then click "apply" and it will prompt you to reboot your computer ... click OK and reboot http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif

well it is pretty obvious why pornjester felt that SYSTRAY needed to remain open on his post about scandisk/defrag

and I do not think you can mix those two RAMs together, and you definitely have way too much crap running at start up. You must boot up with about 35% resources available.
