XM or Sirius?

Need to get a gift for a family member. Which one has better programs, music, etc....? The guy is gay, if that helps. Is one more preferred over the other in the gay community, for it's programs?

Veterans Day 12-21-2004 12:03 PM

sirius for me

HairNation 23 baby lol, if it wasnt a gift I would sell ya my XM with FM modulator for 100 bucks.

BuckLover 12-21-2004 12:04 PM

Looking to buy some stock?:winkwink:

Sosa 12-21-2004 12:06 PM

I keep telling myself i'm getting one of them but just haven't yet. I'm leaning towards XM because of the baseball games.

BigWebRev 12-21-2004 12:07 PM

Sirius is the way to go

That rocks but XM 41 has got pretty much the same stuff. I kind of wish I went with Sirius since they have NPR.

Thanks for the in put

Manowar 12-21-2004 12:09 PM

definetly Sirius

iBOUNCER 12-21-2004 12:24 PM

XM has Opie and Anthony now totally uncensored (the sex in the church guys that got kicked off of regular radio in 2002).

Before they came back on the air on XM in October, I had Sirius. Both are pretty equal, just figure out which content you like better.

The Bone Yard? Nah they dont play dokken, warrant, ratt and so on nowhere near as much, Hair Nation 23 is straight outta 1988:Graucho

Interesting post.

check out http://www.fozzebear.com it gives a good overview of Sirius.

Programing is much better on Sirius in my humble opinion. I've owned the sat radio since 2/04 and the programming on Sirius is much better. We have XM in our SUV and pretty much all the generation channels suck.... ie the 80s.

Don't forget Howard Stern is coming to Sirius as well and they have NFL, NHL (when they play) and no premium charge for Opi and Anthony or the Playboy Channel..... I've always wondered why someone would want the Playboy Channel on radio....... I guess there's just not enough oportunity to masturbate...

canplayer 12-21-2004 12:40 PM

howard stern = sirius

i think that answers the question

axelcat 12-21-2004 12:41 PM

sirius

I didn't think anyone else was as into that shit as I am. You should see my CD collection. You'd shit.

Jim_Gunn 12-21-2004 12:59 PM

Sirrius has OutQ, the gay and lesbian channel, plus Howard Stern coming and a lot of other programming.

Sirius

mrsexkey 12-21-2004 01:14 PM

Xm. I have had it for a few years now. There is something to be said for a company that pays someone 500 million over 5 years (stern) but has never even made 100 million ina year let alone every shown a profit. The last thing I would want is a nice $100 plus dollar paperweight once they go belly up. Sirius 800k members versus 2 million lus with XM. Sirius might not charge extra for a few premium stuff but their monthly, 12.95 versus the monthly for XM 9.95 makes up the difference once u add in the extras. if you even want the extras added in. XM is the hands down choice. GM just announced that they just installed their 1 millionth unit in their cars. That is more than Sirius even has total subscribers, that should tell you something..... my :2 cents:

Well I hope my boys like XM.. I bought them XM Delphi MyFi's for Xmas.

rubikkx 12-21-2004 01:17 PM

if he s gay then sirius is the way!:ak47:

JerseyPuma 12-21-2004 01:18 PM

Let's make a bet sirius has more paying subscribers in 2 years from now. I know 5 people who just installed sat in their cars, all sirius. I'm not sure if you know anything about finance, but how many large corporations post losses? I would toss out that XM of yours, might be considered an antique in a couple of years.

cosis 12-21-2004 01:30 PM

I have XM, but since I own stock in Sirius get them! :)

I went with XM because the display's look cooler, the Sirius ones are too damn bulky to put in your car

LOL, honesty, love it...

from what I'm hearing both are fine, but I'd lean towards Sirius as Howard will pull in a crapload of income and thus more programming options...

of course I'm sure XM is not slacking on plans for increases in programming either...

xclusive 12-21-2004 01:36 PM

Sirius since they have NPR.

mardigras 12-21-2004 01:45 PM

Sirius and XM have mostly the same music genres. For me it would be the talk stations on Sirius that would make me choose them, which include the already mentioned gay channel OutQ and Court TV.

XM is like 3 dollars a month less and are the first to come to market with a Walkman type receiver. I'd bet Sirius is soon with one.

gage 12-21-2004 01:48 PM

SIRIUS all the way (not only cause I have stock, i swear) .. how could stern, bam, tony hawk, eminem, jim bruer, kelly slater, and maxim radio be wrong? Not to mention one of the best CEO's... Mel Karmazin, SIRIUS has a good thing going on with their partnerships w/ Daimler Chrysler, BMW and Ford too. :) NOW GO BUY SIRIUS. -g

mrsexkey 12-21-2004 02:21 PM

canplayer, too funny.

I will make the bet that in 2 years XM still has more subscribers than Sirius, but I don't know if your sites will still be around and you will have any money to pay off the bet.......

mrsexkey 12-21-2004 02:24 PM

I actually just bought 5 of the new Delphi MYFi portable XM units to give as gifts. So that offsets the 5 friends that you know who installed the other service, if you think that really makes a difference.

This thread has basically turned into Sirius Stock hype. Which is amazingly overbought because of the Stern announcement. Why it is worth more than XM with a 3rd of the listeners is amazing. This stock has had it's run. 9 billion dollar market cap on a stock that is th 2nd best out there.... Come on people. If you have decent profit on this stock, be smart and hedge it. it is bound to fall back.
