How Do Guys In The Military Keep Their Marriages Intact?

I don't get it. They just showed one of those segments on CBS Morning Show with a soldier in Iraq away from home for his 2nd Christmas talking to his wife.

The conversations are always so limited. I miss you. I miss you too. I can't wait till you come home. Me too. I love you. I love you too.

WTF? And there's always screaming little kids in the background.

How these guys keep their wives content while they are away in some fleabag hell hole for 2 years is beyond me.

What am I missing here. How do these guys find women this dedicated to just sit at home waiting for them for several years or do most of these deals fall apart?

sweetcuties 12-21-2004 06:59 AM

Yea, I've wondered the same thing. There's gotta be alot of cheating going on. I have a family member in the military and he was away for a yr and he observed some shit

From what I've seen, the soldier get cheated on and eventually left. Has happened to at least five guys I know that are serving in the military.

Jensen 12-21-2004 07:00 AM

wouldn't you wait for the woman you love if she served?

chemicaleyes 12-21-2004 07:01 AM

http://www.climaxshot.com/iraqi/iraqi_us_soldier.htm

This lonely female United States soldier serving in Iraq took some very sexual pictures of herself naked to send to to her boyfriend or husband back in the states. One of our friend happens to be stationed in the same area are her, and when she was done sending the lovely amateur porn pictures back home via email, she deleted them. Just one problem though, she forgot to empty the recycle bin.

Entropy 12-21-2004 07:05 AM

Not a bad looking soldier:thumbsup

uno 12-21-2004 07:07 AM

They get them preggo.

My sister's husband is leaving for Iraq in about a month, 10 days after my niece is due. The only way I think my sister will NOT cheat on him is to lock herself inside the house and never talk to anyone but females.

Women that marry military men are ready to live a more subservient lifestye. It is understood that the man is in charge and the head of the family. This creates less friction.
50 years ago, when a women's place was in the home to cook, clean and make babies, the divorce rate was much lower than today.
The same goes when the man is overseas.

Peaches 12-21-2004 07:28 AM

It's called "commitment", "honor", "respect", "love". Words that sadly seem absent in most marriages these days.

"honey, their gonna be training me to be a killing machine over there... im going to learn how to kill a man with my bare hands, fire an array of weapons, even operate a tank.

dont even think about fucking around while im gone"

It's just too easy to get a divorce, and it's also socially acceptable. Marriage is a tough gig, been their done that. Plus, from a male part of view: "ya need that strange".:glugglug

The divorce rate for military personell is higher than that of civilians.

You've never been in military, have you?

When their husband leaves for extended period of times, the woman is in charge - and does everything from taking care of the children alone, maintaining the cars, the house, and paying the bills.

When a unit goes out on deployment it's party time for their wives. Perhaps not for all wives, but some wives would have a rather active social life while their husband was gone in the bars and clubs. When the husband returned, the wife would drop off of the map until the next time the husband left. I thought it was horrible myself.

All to true...and in my case I had three of those wives. I did not particularly blame them for their actions...as they were young and I was away from home...at the least...as much as I was at home...but I had a zero tolerance policy. My policy was...if you are going to collect my pay...when I am away...you better not play...if you want to stay. I divorced all three of them.

TheEnforcer 12-21-2004 09:11 AM

Being a military wife is EXTREMELY hard and they do have more problems with divorce and other issues BUT for the most part they are extremely dedictaed women and they make sure to support one another as much as possible. My best friend from high school who I went in the Marine Corps with is a gunnery sergeant and a lifer and has been married almost his entire career. Luckily for him he has it easier than most as his wife was in the Navy when they met.

I was in Thailand when the USS kitty Hawk docked in Pattaya...the town was instantly invaded by 5000 navy boys who went out and fucked everything they could get their hands on..it works both ways..

it is sad that ppl can't remain honest and loyal to their spouses.

"Dedication" is a good word to use...but I prefer the word unique. It takes a unique individual to make the military a career and the same applies to being a military spouse. Most people do not like the hardships they have to suffer to be career military...during peace as well as during conflict.

Yeh, ok, find me a woman that goes by those in this day and age.

I've looked everywhere and had 2 marriages.

Maybe in the 50's you could find those kind of women.

canplayer 12-21-2004 01:31 PM

we don't really have this problem in canada. We have a 10 man army, and I think they all do desk jobs or something.l

Maybe you're looking for the wrong things in a woman :winkwink:

I never cheated or even thought of cheating when I was married or if I have been in any other committed relationship. I have never been WITH someone who was married.

And I'm certainly not the only one. Out of all my friends that I hang out with, many I have been with since high school, only one cheated on her spouse and he was a cocaine addict who had tried to sell their 2 year old son for drugs and she met someone she later married (and has been faithful to since). And yes, a few are even wives of men who are in the Reserves or in the NG and their husbands have been sent away for up to 18 months.

To say women or men don't believe in "commitment", "honor", "respect", "love" these days is a cop out. Sorry.

It's the marriages where the man and woman actually see each other every day for 2 years that don't last...

Heck, most married people I know would gladly spend a couple years apart.... they like each other better that way :1orglaugh

some people fish for trout in the ocean and come up with sharks...

but in general would have to agree, it's not easy to find a keeper in most waters these days, too much pollution...

PS: ladies, I'm talking about both sides of the coin with those statements, I know it works both ways

both sides of the coin? trout and sharks? Salmon? Wait, are we still talking about marriages or is this about fish?

interesting way to word the title.

"How Do Guys In The Military Keep Their Marriages Intact? "

why do assume its the men who keep the marriage together while he is at war?

it would make sense to think how do women hold the marriage together while the guy is at war, not the other way around.

men get to fuck anything they want while in the military, anyone who knows anyone in the militatry can vouch for this. if there is no atheists in fox holes, there are also no loyal men because soldiers LOVE the pussy.

i would think the person holding shit together would be the one actually keeping the home running versus ABANDONING their family to go off and kill Iraqis.

Think about this for a second. Those wives live on or near military bases where they are completely surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of men who look exactly like their husbands.

Husbands try to keep their wives pregnant so they can't stray.

killshot 12-21-2004 01:57 PM

One of my friends married a military guy after knowing him for about 6 months
then 3 months later he got shipped to Iraq

Came home 2 months ago after being hit by a roadside bomb

Has brain damage now and is recovering.. but will never be the same...

I feel bad for her.. but i don't know how she did it.. or how she is going to continue to cope with having a fucked up husband...

This is true...but I always paid the bills, and ran errands. When my husband left, I would literally be glued to that phone waiting for him to call. yet, a lot of wives do cheat on their husbands, and it gets really nasty. Now the barrack women...(female soldiers) they are 100 times worst than the wives!!

But I knew a couple of wives that cheated, but the majority that I met & knew were faithful, and anxiously waited for their husbands.

violent abuse and rape are the common crimes among military

almost ALWAYS crimes against women.

"The news conference was prompted by a report on the CBS television program "60 Minutes," which reviewed Pentagon records from 1992 through 1997 and found that 50,000 military spouses were victims of domestic violence, five times higher than the civilian population rate when compared with Department of Justice records over the same period."

Please, the average servicemans family gets as much in government assistance as someone living in the projects. They don't pay those guys shit for what they ask of them.

I've often wondered how anyone could possibly be happy defending a country that treats you, and pays you, like a second class citizen.

*clap clap* exactly, the world is so fucked up today, whatever happend to the staying and being with the person you married because you love them,

people just dont get it, this world is to caught up in sex and forget what really makes them happy,

i dont see the big deal with them being away for years, if they truly loved eachother it shouldnt matter.
