if you run a search on google its usually those two cameras that they compare. I've never used the VX2000 but from some of the screen shots comparing the two they look pretty similar.
The advantage to the Panasonic is that it records at 24 frames per second which is exactly like Film. Hence the "film look".
I believe everything else records at 30fps. The Panasonic is the only 24FPS camera out right now. At the same time you can obtain a more professional look post production. A 24 frames feel can be obtained by dropping frames, and after color correction it will probaly look pro. The Panasonic saves you a couple of steps.
