Who Has The Best Host???
Please Read all of this. My host has been very good up until 3 days ago when they really went to shit! Its really hard to take when you try and update your main page and the damn HD is full??? Now after that, you get nothing but a white page for 3 hours!
I Understand So what to do. You icq, you phone and you email! NO RESPONSE! Well not until they get it fixed. Amazing when there is a problem how long it takes for them to get back to you huh? I understand Now they Tell you that there was a slight problem "The 1 server that is having space issues was caused by a major upload by another client that was unanticipated and caused the drive to fill up" And they Promise this will not happen again. I understand Low and behold.The next day when your FTP updates your page at midnight while you are at work The HD is full?? Now when you come home and check stats and all, you get a damn white page again, this time for almost 9 hours! Now, there is an emergency email address to use. Rings a phone when you send to it. Sounds good eh? But,and I quote, there answer was, "my cell phone didn't go off until 8am the SMS must have been backed up or something" I understand http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/rolleyes.gif There explanation after ICQ"ing Phoning and emailing,is,after 9 hours now, and I quote"I have started moving sites to other server which will free up more than enough space for me to GUARANTEE that you will not run out of disk space again.. if you do I personally will pay this months (Oct 2001) hosting for you.. sound fair for you?" Now, not 1 phone call or icq message!It went from a promise to a Guarantee now http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif whew I understand http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/rolleyes.gif Now I don't know what is better, them paying the fees or replacing the 15,000 trades I lost when this took place. I asked them to send the traffic to get trades back up and answer is'"If I could send you traffic I would.. but I am not a webmaster and therefore do not have the resources to filter any traffic anywhere.. Nor do I understand what 15000 trades equals. I do understand that, for sites that depend on trading for revenue, even small amounts of downtime can have drastic side-effects." I guess you can just go right back to normal trades , I don't know. Now I don't mind paying for something someone can deliver. But when you charge and don't deliver, I say, change your sites promises! I know my host post's in here and this might be quite interesting! Just be careful cause I have all your BALONEY answers! I will not reveal at this time who my host is but am asking you all who is best? I will pay a bit more for a host who will deliver what they promise! Well, now I'm done letting off steam and its now been 12 hours and I'm still waiting on them to call me or icq me! Ya know? All in all I have been happy with VF. Its been fine up until this problem. But I just wish tech could tell you to watch your site because we now have no room for you to update or something like that lol Ya Know? some sort of a warning. I understand things happen beyond control. But for a HD to be full because of somebody elses site? Hmm. I wonder if there main page was a white blank also lmao! Anyways, I would like to stay where im at as long as they would be there when there is a problem and not Ignore you about it! Wouldnt that be a nice feature to offer? Say, something like 24/7 tech support. Thats what I like hehe. Ok 13 hours now, damn, no call or icq yet...still waiting...

Ok........ maybe I can shed some light here. First off, I an NOT a techie at all, anything tech related, I have to get our tech to handle it. This is fine, but I am pretty up front about what I know and do not know.
Sexplay I have the email that you are referring to here and it doesn't read anything like what you are saying here........ it makes no promise that this will never happen again at all............ the one I have that YOU forwarded to me reads this way: Hey there.. I am here.. my cell phone didn't go off until 8am the SMS must have been backed up or something.. it happens occasionally.. Since you have not given me what domain you are saying is down there is not much that I can do to offer assistance... The 1 server that is having space issues was caused by a major upload by another client that was unanticipated and caused the drive to fill up, we have been keeping eyes on it and have been clearing the logs multiple times per day to keep what small buffer we can until the new drive that we have ordered arrives. It should be here today and we can install it and move some of the data on the server to the other drive which will be the permanent solution, we are jsut waiting for the drive. So I am thinking he did explain what happened but whenever you first emailed him you never told him what domain you were referring to. Now I am not trying to say this was your fault, and our tech did explain what had happened and also said that we were waiting for a new server to come in and that he would take care of you on this. I also understand your frustration and can assure you that it will, or would have been made up to you. But our tech is as he said, NOT a webmaster and he knows nothing about traffic or what the number of hits means or anything. Vector and I are the webmasters, not our tech, he simply works on the servers and that's all he does. He has done a tremendous job for us and has always been very helpful to everyone, but obviously with as many domains as we are hosting, he can't just guess which domain you are referring to, am I right or wrong here? As for emailing, most all emails come to me and I don't have one email from you until this one I got today and I will opt here not to add YOUR words as they weren't too awfully friendly, but again I understand your frustrations. I have no problems with you and want no pissing wars with you, just trying to bring some light to a situation that is very rare and unfortunate for Vector Force, accidents happen, it's a human thing, it is how it is dealt with that is important and he is and has been trying his best to deal with it til the new server gets here. sandman, we can't control when people upload an unreal amount of content out of nowhere like that. When we checked it there was plenty of room and then before we knew what was going on it was full. We had and have more servers ordered but we can't make them get there faster simply because someone crammed the harddrive full in a matter of a couple of hours. That server is being closely monitored until the new one gets there and can be transferred.

If you read my post at all, you say I dont say what was really said in the Email I got. Look closely, I copied and pasted the quotes Right from your techs email and so did you in BOLD, and further more, I didnt feel I had to give my DOMAIN AGAIN as this was the second time in 2 days!!! Did he forget me that quick? You mention nothing of it happening twice in 2 days! The email you are refurring to is the second one I got after it went down for THE SECOND TIME! Not the first one with the PROMISE in it! Look in your techs sent messages and you will see the first one. And again I say, I emailed DON and TECH and EMERGENCY! Thats 3 emails and I was sure someone woulkd get it! But as we all know, the darn cell phones were down .... As far as getting ahold of you, I was sure after you didn't respond to my icq message and I quote "You have sent a message! Please tell Don to call me. Im not happy at all! The Godamn server im on was FULL again and I had a blank page since Midnight last night! 8 hours with no page! Thats twice this week! Do they understand what that has done to my traffic? Its Bullshit They email me and tell me that will never happen again and then 2 days later, it happens again!" Check your icq history and you will see that! again, you mention that I didnt try and get ahold of you! Now, anymore? I told you in my post to be carefull what you reply as to I have everything I sent and all your answers. As you can see, I AM RIGHT ON THE MONEY HONEY! Now as far as my traffic I lost. Sexplay, I can wholeheartedly recommend prohosters.com . Their support is terrific, and the Ted the CEO is a great guy. They have IRC with their technicians in their all the time, ICQ support and phone. Anything wrong with your server their guys are on it instantly. It's not expensive either. I suggest you give them a look.

Sexplay...... the icq you sent me... now I know who you are and what the deal this is...... As I said before I know little about this situation. I only got the one ICQ message of which I sent off right away....... I am sorry about not replying back to you, I had a ton of things going on at the time and was trying to deal with a lot of things at one time. For this I am extremely sorry.
If you will hit me on ICQ I have a solution for you that I honestly think you will like. As for the emails, I only had the one that I intercepted, and it mentioned none of this about a promise in there. I spoke with my tech last night and he feels bad about this whole situation and he will pay your hosting bill this month from his own pocket..... and I have also lined you up some traffic if that's what you wish as well. Tell me what you lost by being down and I will fix it for you. I have a close friend of mine right now sitting by awaiting your word on what to do, he'll get you the traffic you lost. If I had access to that kind of traffic, I would send it to you myself, but I have a good friend who is a traffic broker and he will make this up to you. I also apologize profusely for dropping the ball on this and I, as I explained, understand your frustration. This deal here was something that was a bit out of our control but we have taken control of the situation. All I can do is cover your October hosting bill and return any traffic you lost, that's the best I can honestly do for you, and give you MY promise that this will not happen again. That's truly the best thing I can do. I do not want bad terms with you at all and it is not even an issue of "it's my job" here...... this is one webmaster to another, I will cover you on this.
