mp3 experts pls HELP!

How do I turn mpeg audio files into mp3 files so I can burn a cd? I downloaded Realplayer awhile ago and it turned all my existing mp3 files into mpeg audi files, and when I burn cd's it won't work. How do I turn these files back into mp3 files?

Thanks!

If you're using something like Winamp to play them you can use the winamp DiskWriter plugin to convert MP3's to WAV files, which should be burnable with most CD Burning software.

If you're using something like Nero to burn CD's, it will do all the hard work for you and convert MP3's into an audio CD automatically (using the make audio cd option).

You should check out your current cd software, it may already be able to do it.

Osiris,

I'm using the Hewlett Packard software that came along with my cd burner to burn the cd's. Problem is that the files aren't mp3's, my computer turned them into RealPlayer mpeg files.

Previously when I went into the folder where the music files where, they were white icons. Now they are blue and have that blue RealPlayer logo next to them and when I burned a cd it didn't work because it's a Realplayer file and won't play in a cd player. Do you know how to fix it so that the files are regular mp3's again? Thanks

Hmm, I don't know a whole heap of anything about RealPlayer's format. Try RealJukeBox, I seem to recall that lets you burn CD's.

I'm not sure, but I don't think any converters exist for realaudio files. Are you sure they are realaudio files? What are the extensuions on them?

Is it possible that RealPlayer just renamed the files but didn't actually convert them? Try copying a file to another directory, then renaming it with the extension .mp3 instead of .mpg. Then see if it plays in Winamp.

I could be way off here, but it was just a thought.
