wget via comand promt (ssh?)
Hi there,
I remember a while ago my server admin was explaining wget to me and I found it an extremely useful tool, however I have since forgot how to sue it properly. Could someone donate maybe 3 mminutes of their time to me who knows how to use this program? I would be most grateful :) Thx, Steen. |
theres only one use for it really.
go to the dir you want to download something into, and then type: wget URL its basically saying, DOWNLOAD THIS. |
Bring your post back to the Q and A section of the forum. :winkwink:

What Magg said works. If you want to know more, try:
man wget |
|
You can actually use it to spider a site and download all the content

Yes! My old server admin told me how to do this and it was very useful! I would log in with this program I have (putty) and type in about 10 words in a command prompt and after say one minute I would have all the content from a site from however many links deep I specified. Anyone fluent with how to use this awesome program? |
wget -r -np url
grabs everything, saves it. |

What do you mean by "everything"? I don't want it to follow links to external sites (yahoo.com) and download the entire internet, lol :Graucho |
