Sprint Nextel

Sprint and Nextel users how are you all feeling about the merger?

Funky Bastard 12-16-2004 09:18 PM

It's the only way to compete now days this will make them the 3rd largest wireless provider. I see many more to come in other industries.

Screaming 12-16-2004 09:37 PM

well i would think it would help sprint around here cause there reception sucks, and nextel's is great

Jim_Gunn 12-16-2004 09:44 PM

I've been with Nextel for over seven years, and locked into a contract for another 15 months or so. I mostly like it. It has pretty good reception in South Florida (and NJ too back in the day). I always heard bad things about Sprint, and I've heard friends with Sprint had real bad reception here and a lot of dropped calls. Nextel will probably be dropping their IDEN technology and using Spint's CDMA technology in the long run. Whether this is good or bad I don't know.

I'm thinking abouth getting the new Motroola-made i860 cellphone with a camera, but I am loathe to spend another $249 when I have already bought three new phones in the last three years.

Nextel will be switching over to Sprints CDMA tech. Until the change is complete Motorola is going to have to create phones that are IDEN/CDMA capable. I'm curious to see how the first phone will look that is capable of working on both networks, especially if the phone will be able to take advantage of Sprints EV-DO.

I think I'll wait to buy a new phone until the new Motorola phone debuts with iTunes and shit on it next year.

I have both Sprint (personal) & Nextel(business) accounts. It will be nice to have some better phone choices with the Nextel account.

ProjectNaked 12-16-2004 10:50 PM

sprint has always sucked, I use a verizon and nextel-(only for 2-way).

This is going to be my next phone. I will probably pick it up after X-Mas. I have the Sanyo 7300 and I love it but the multi media functions in the 7400 are amazing.

I will probably end up giving my girlfriend my 7300 so I can add 1 more person to my R-Link list. VOIP baby.

As a sprint customer I don't really see this benefiting me as much as ATT/Cingular...

Sprint has horrible network coverage and from what I heard Nextel has an aging network in need of repair (which is why they merged) so... it looks like I won't see much out of it...

Twe Russ 12-16-2004 11:04 PM

I had sprint for 4 years before getting Nextel last year. Both are
pretty good in NYC - Sprint's support sucks cock, Nextel was
pretty solid.

I think I am going to go to T-mobile when my contract with Nextel
is finished, I want the New Sidekick with the fast connection.

sprint for 8 years, never a problem at all. course, I work for a telco that does CDMA work, may have something to do with it.

I love Sprint's data network. Always extremely fast! The service coverage is pretty good, better than Nextel's current coverage on the east coast. The only problem with Sprint is their support personnel. The support really does suck big donkey balls.

shuki 12-16-2004 11:56 PM

I hear people complain about sprint but I have never had a problem with their network. I have been in NYC, Boston, Scottsdale with it and it does fine.

I won't switch as all my friends and family are on the network and it's free sprint to sprint. I also get a 25% off discount through a friend so that helps :Graucho
