Christmas presents! What are you giving and expecting to receive?

Anything odd? Spending a fortune or keeping it low? Or am i asking too early?

Spunky 12-16-2004 08:56 PM

A lump of coal :( Santa never visits :BangBang:

mrthumbs 12-16-2004 09:00 PM

The problem with decent amounts of cash is that if you want something you buy it. I miss the days where i would be happy with a new cd or gadget during christmas or a birthday.

It all means shit now and people know it.

sickkittens 12-16-2004 09:10 PM

I'm giving alot to nephews and neices and cousins. I'm getting tires and a computer although I always feel weird asking for stuff.

MikeVega 12-16-2004 09:24 PM

I'm pretty sure i'm getting an Ipod and i'm giving my wife another coach bag ...but thats what she wants ....

MissEve 12-16-2004 09:27 PM

I have been annoyed the past few years with the gift buying. I have a fairly small family and everyone goes crazy and spends a ton of money on eachother. Thats very nice but.....we are all grownups now and don't need a thing. I hate the stress of HAVING to find a gift for someone even though they dont need or want it. I think its different for kids or students who get usefull things.

I am seriously thinking about sending out a letter to all friends and family next year telling them I will gladly donate 100 bucks to the charity of their choice and ask them to do the same for me.

Babagirls 12-16-2004 09:28 PM

keeping it low this year.

im baking my grandparents favorite desserts for them as gifts & only got a gift or two for everyone else.

i did, however, spend a shit load on my niece (as always lol)

And I bought a nice multimedia car system for myself :glugglug

Doc911 12-17-2004 07:54 AM

I'm taking my wife to see her family. She really misses not being with them for christmas and its been two years.

For myself, I have everything i need.

LadyMischief 12-17-2004 07:58 AM

The hubby and I pretty much just let each other buy what we want, although he gave me one present early... A gorgeous Mystic Fire Topaz ring. We are really only spending on the kids this year...

They got a leapster, a bunch of games, a microscope set, I'm planning on getting my son a bigger cf card for his digital camera (he's 6), my daughter got a stuffed pony twice as big as her.. the baby got some really neat stuff she's going to love.. bought the in-laws a bunch of stuff they will love, just have to shop for a few friends and the kitties and we're done :)

MandyBlake 12-17-2004 08:00 AM

We're giving the in-laws gift checks and checks and bonds to others. I'm giving Tony a dvd box set he wanted, plus some stuff I think he needs. I'm guess that he will give me gift cards, since that's what I asked for.

psili 12-17-2004 08:00 AM

I asked for a lazer leveler.

Pretty much anything else I really want costs too much to handle this year.

Za Ha 12-17-2004 08:02 AM

Bought myself this:

http://www.sonystyle.com/intershopro...x650/DSCL1.jpg

Bought my dad a glass chess set... made out of shot glasses :Graucho

Going to get my moms gift now, a bunch of champange glasses, a purse, and a nice picture frame set with pictures of when I was young.

My sis gets some dvds.

My gf - i got her some $$ pants, and probably gonna take her to a play or somethin.

ho ho ho

He's a christmas present

Dirty Dane 12-17-2004 08:05 AM

Im so tired of commercial holidays, so Im going skiing for 7 days.
I invited my brother and four of my best friends, which dont have money, and I paid it all instead of buying meaningless shit. We gonna go downhill skiing, party and just have fun.

Paco, of Large Cash. 12-17-2004 08:20 AM

Christmas to me means a time for friends and family to get together, placing most (I can not say all) differences aside, eating, laughing, watching the kids open their gifts, drinking and have a wonderful time.

As for expectations, my only real concern is getting back to my office so I can get busy.

Tala 12-17-2004 05:30 PM

I've already gotten part of it, (acoustic guitar found on ebay for $4.95 - plays very well!). Sana Chan and My boy sylvan got me a full Nightmare Before Christmas bedding/comforter set!! I'm not sure if I should expect more or not, so I'll just hope. There are a couple of thigns that I'd love to have, and both are under $100.

God I'm a cheap date.

As for what I'm giving, I must decline to comment. Certain recipiants are GFY regs. :glugglug

Sly 12-17-2004 05:49 PM

I spent about $600. I honestly do not care whether I receive a gift or not. I've even told several people not to buy me anything. No guilt. I just want to have a good time and a good meal.

liquidmoe 12-17-2004 06:03 PM

The only gift I got so far has been a Sidekick II for a friend, for myself I'm thinking about getting a nice B&M watch, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in NY.

baddog 12-17-2004 06:12 PM

Giving:

a food sealer
a banjo
a coat
a necklace
cash
Toys for Tots

Receiving:

a t-shirt
a leg & back massager
