summary: An artist drew a series of cartoon-like (pop art) hitler and nazi pieces. He displayed them in his gallery just miles from a nazi death camp. People, mostly jews are pissed.


My take on this is that he should be able to display this art and it should get a LOT of attention. As is briefly mentioned in the article, people forget that this guy got millions of germans to follow him and believe whatever he said. He was not a monster when he did all this, he looked like a really attractive option to the people at the time. Someone who embraced classicly German values. Someone you'd want your daughter to marry. When images portraying him as an attractive individual are banned, we are too likely to fall into the trap of expecting our monsters to LOOK like monsters.

No it's not. A more fitting example would be showing the same thing in afghanistan. The point that The german people should be able to see what they put in power.

This guy isnt going to london and painting pictures glorifying bombers that leveled it, its more close to home.

Obviously he was a very charming and charismatic man, this must be true otherwise why would so many people follow him.
No i dont agree with hs ideas, well most of them. Although he did have a great idea for unifying the world, which in theory is great.
This artist is being unfairly treated, he is simply offering us another point of view to consider, which then it is up to us to base our own opinions on, not to suppress his. Sounds to me like some people have their own Hitler complex.
I got into this exact arguement with a gen. ed. teacher in college.
