LCD monitors (dead pixels)
Do any of you continue to use your monitor even if you have a dead pixel? Or does it really depend on the placement. I'm contemplating sending mine back because of the placement, since I surf and play games, a lot of dark and graphics and such bring out the pixel and it's bothersome. Anyways, would love to hear your feelings.

You may be disappointed to discover that a certain number of dead pixels are actually acceptable and not sufficient grounds for return.
I remember when I bought my first laptop, and it had a dead (bright blue) pixel in the middle of the screen, the shop would not take it back because they were allowed 5 bad pixels before it was considered 'defective'. Needless to say, I had them open up the box and show me the running screen for the next laptop I bought before accepting it - we had to go through 5 laptops before we found one which did not have a dead pixel. The sales guy was sweating with every new box we opened. Just like 'bubble memory' (that's not being nostalgic about booty) - a certain number of defective elements are considered normal. If you do try and return your item, please let us know how you make out. -Dino |

I agree that they should proactively inform the consumer what is 'acceptable defect' - and not in font size .0001 -Dino |

There is one right >x< there, can you see it?

I've had my dell LCD for a few years now and havent had any problems with it

BTW - even after having forced my sales rep to go through 5 laptops before finding one without a broken pixel, two weeks after I brought the PC home, it developed a burnt pixel.
I don't have the heart (more likely courage) to take it back. :) -Dino |

I believe I can take mine back for as much as 1 dead pixel...
I actually got it insurance for 5 years against any defects when I bought it. |

If it's really noticable, like in the center. I'd get a new one. My NEC has no dead pixels :)
