People who smoke light cigarettes are likely in for a shock. They're getting just as much tar and nicotine as with normal cigarettes, new research shows. Yet most smokers think light brands are less dangerous.

When people switch to light cigarettes, they puff harder, make more frequent puffs, and the smoke actually feels lighter, less harsh," Cummings tells WebMD. "The smoke cools in the vents, giving the illusion that it's less harsh, less dangerous. But it's not. They're getting the same amount of tar and nicotine, and they're probably less likely to quit smoking."

i smoke light 100's and thought that it was SLIGHTLY better (i mean, smoking is bad no matter how you put it) but did think it was slightly better.

I smoke lights cause I don't get smokers cough from them, they arn't ash harsh and don't hurt my throat if i smoke too many when drunk :drinkup
