dont know much about search engines, but someone told me about sandbox. do all new sites get stuck with shitty positions for several months ?

From what I understand and I don't know shit about SEO is....it's around 3 months depending on incoming links and other variables I do not know.

SEO is a mysterious beast. I have seen some pages make it on to google within days of them going live....and others hang around for months before they get added, if, in fact they ever get added.

But, for all of you who really want to learn a bit more about the "science" of the search engine, go here. This is where all the big boys play.

I believe that when you are sandboxed it means that google decided that yoursite isnt ready to be spidered , so it skips a few updates .
