Paid spots redirected

Would ppl here say that it's ok that if you paid for a 30 day spot on a tgp that they then still use this spot for traffic trading?

I feel a bit like I wasn't given the full story when paying.

Eh yes... that's not the question. However I was told I bought that placement, I didn't realize I only bought a percentage of it.

Normally you should have an idea of the amount of traffic you're paying for, so it doesnt matter if they skim or not, so long as you get the traffic you expected.

You paid for a gallery spot not a skimmed link..Yes they trade but sending a surfer to your link 50-60 % or whatever is acceptable?...bullshit

bignasty 12-15-2004 07:55 AM

I always look first to see if they do, I would never buy a paid spot from a tgp that trades off that spot.

Yeah I actually do think they should inform you that you are not actually buying the spot, just a portion of it. They tell you how much traffic the site gets and how much you pay for one spot and thats it. If you were told "look were gonna take 25% and use it for traffic trading" then you could do the math yourself, but ONLY informing of the traffic the site gets and the price of the spot and THEN trading on the spot as well just doesn't sound like good business to me.

I agree to this..

jawanda 12-15-2004 09:08 AM

A LOT of the big boys do it *cough*GTS*cough* but unless you pay attention, you are never notified of this fact.

I think about it this way. You are buying a "Guaranteed Gallery Spot".

All you are really paying for is the "Guarantee", after that it's just a regular gallery. Are the regular galleries being skimmed? Of course. So really it is expected that your gallery will be skimmed as well.

Some TGP's rely so heavily on trading and are also so full of paid galleries, that if they didn't skim the paid ones too, they'd probably shrivel up and die.

:2 cents:

No way......

I will certainly watch for it in the future

Thanks

What jawanda says. If your spots were not skimmed, the site would die. Would you rather it be a 500k site with skimming or a 200k site with half the galleries not skimmed? Think carefully before you reply. :)

I've only ever seen one TGP that actually sells traffic on a price per K basis. Everywhere else sells you a spot, so traffic depends completely on your thumb/description, day of the week, trades etc.
