Good horror movie scores?
I'm looking for some scary horror movie scores, from within the past 5-6 years. Any suggestions?
|
Interview With a Vampire has an awesome score by Elliot Goldenthal, but it's not really scary. Most modern horror movies have rock soundtracks. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/frown.gif

There haven't really been any good horror soundtracks in recent times. However, my favorit all-time horror soundtracks would be:
1) Night of Dark Shadows/House of Dark Shadows 2) The Exorcist 3) Rob Zombie Presents the Words & Music From Frankenstein 4) Interview With A Vampire Short list because I have't really found any horror movie soundtracks. If you are looking for some really cool horror-based music, give Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, The Ghastly Ones & The Bomboras a try. I wonder why there was never a soundtrack for the Elvira movie. That would have been a cool one to have. ------------------ I have a dream & you can share that dream too at Moongem Erotica [This message has been edited by Jamdin (edited 10-09-2001).] |

The Soundtrack to Hellraiser 2 has some weird sounds incorporated into it. If I remember correctly, the composer pounded out "G-O-D" in morse code using a timpani drum for certain songs.
"NO, Wait! It is not hands that call upon us, it is desire." "Demons to some Angels to others." "We have eternity to know your flesh" "BoneProne is our finest pupil. He is our servant, and we'll use him to take over the internet." http://home.earthlink.net/~fxgrunt/gfy/pinhead01.jpg ------------------ RedShoe is: http://home.earthlink.net/~fxgrunt/g...fe-anim-01.gif BoneProne Family Member |
:::Trivia:::
Form the effects dept. Can anyone answer why, (technically) Pinhead has grid lines all over his head? (HINT - The answer is technical, it's not related to the story of the movie.) ------------------ RedShoe is: http://home.earthlink.net/~fxgrunt/g...fe-anim-01.gif BoneProne Family Member |
I'm thinking pinhead has pins because they were trying to make a computer generated monster. those pins are kind of like those glowy ball thingies they use now.
PS: The scariest horror movie music has to include the soundtrack to the omen. love, ------------------ tit, writer for: COZYFROG Submit your Free site, TGP or TGP2 gallery to the MowseBytes Newsletter BONEPRONE 4 LIFE |

The reason Pinhead has the lines is because the way the appliance had to be attached to actor Doug Bradley's head was in strips..the pins are actually little rods that are stuck to a solid surface under the latex and pushed through to simulate pins...

SykkBoy, you are partially correct. The pins are attached to an understructure, the appliance wasn't attached in strips but rather in 6 sections for the first 2 films, then down to 2 pieces in the last film. When Bob Keen designed that make-up they told him they wanted pins all over the head. To make sure the pins were evenly spaced from one another he drew a grid patteren all over the head. When Chris Figg, and Clive Barker saw the grid they liked it, and it was incorporated into the make-up. The understructure you are referring to, I believe was vacuform. That's very standard today for understructures. We used to use fiberglass, but it takes longer, and is more of a pain in the ass. Plus it's way more toxic. Now we use vacuform as a standard for "mechanical cores" as they are called. An example can be seen here in our Chucky Doll, http://KevinYagher.com/images/pup-chucky06.jpg http://kevinyagher.com/pup-chucky06.shtml Visit our shop site at http://KevinYagher.com You'll have to excuse my abilty to over explain make-ups, but as you can imagine Halloween is my least favorite time of year. and I'm in a "blah" mood... oh, and Tit... I see! Never would have thought it.

RedShoe,
I'd love to visit one :) I did get a nice tour of Tony Gardner's Alterian studios...that guy is talented as hell (as is Kevin Yagher of course). I assume you're like me and stick around after movies to watch the tech credits? ;)) I grew up fascinated by the likes of Dick Smith, Tom Savini and Stan Winston and also developed a fondness for the works of Yagher, Screaming Mad George, the KNB guys of course and even some of Everett Burrell's stuff (I loved Optic Nerve's work on the "Night Of The Living Dead" remake (even though the movie was disappointing). Oops, what was the topic of this thread again? ;))) ------------------ Evil is as evil does http://www.darkdollars.com |
Here's some scary soundtracks I found in my search, some suggested by you guys. Aliens by James Horner is the most scary! Am still searching for more.
Aliens Deep Blue Sea Bram Stoker's Dracula Sixth Sense End of Days Halloween H2O Sleepy Hollow [This message has been edited by Hypo (edited 10-11-2001).] |
I used to work for Rick Lazzarini, (aka Prick Sleazerani) That guy is buy far the biggest asshole in the industry. I wasted nearly 4 years of my life with him.
I don't know why I just told you that. ------------------ RedShoe is: http://home.earthlink.net/~fxgrunt/g...fe-anim-01.gif BoneProne Family Member |
