Why do people hate spammers so much?
 

Just curious because imo, telemarketers do the same thing. Why do some people make such a big deal of it.. all you have to do is set up some filters and/or click delete. Are people really this lazy? I mean delete is one click away. JMHO. :2 cents:

Spam is unwanted and annoying.

cuzz racism seems to be one of society's buttons nowadays.. people need something to hate.

media paints a nice picture of spammers and encourages hatred towards them.

then theres people who are jealous cuzz they spend hours of work daily, when a spammer just hits a start button and makes 10 times more than they do.

Why not set up filters.. I mean I do get spam in my inbox sometimes.. I just hit delete. I have even bought some shit from spammers. I think it was something like 35% of people have bought shit from spam. I am one of the numbers.

500 times clicking delete per day costs my time. Picking up the phone and hanging it up again again when it's a telemarketer costs my time as well. I hate both. And spam filters occasionally eat up important emails.

They are not my friends but if they call - i simply tell them I am not interested.

Can say I "hate" spammers - or anyone for that matter.

Basically spammers are abusers. When you have to tolerate 1500 spam emails each day - spammers a total pain in the ass.

Why should anyone even have to bother "set up some filters and/or click delete" because of a load of assholes who are too lazy to get a real job??

Telemarketers are little different - they intrude on people's lives.

Meanwhile, ya want 20 gallons of hair growth liquid, a kilo of viarga and 20 invites to part with credit card information at fraudulent bank front ends? Gimme a break :-)

People hate spammers because they send porn advertisements to kids.

If you count in the traffic that it causes and the time that people have to spend deleting all this Viagra and mortgage bs it adds up to billions and billions of dollars each year. I don't mind a couple of spammers going to prison for a few years.

Yeah I posted this before. Putting spammers in jail is absolutely stupid. But spyware is another thing though. They should do something against spyware hehe.

Because like 90% of the e-mail most people receive is spam.

I think you just answered your own question, because most people hate telemarketers as much as (or even more than) spammers.

Some people do go a little psycho over spam, but on the other hand if you get 25 spams for every legitimate email (like I do) it can get pretty annoying. And unfortunately no spam filter is anywhere near perfect.

P.S. I use "InBoxer" to filter spam. It is incredibly accurate, but only works with MS Outlook.

Simple example.. Tom Ridge, the "Homeland Security" person uttered words about terrorist attacks on food. What happens? We end up with hours of TV broadcast time stuck on this latest fetish as tho it just dawned on them that this was possible - along with a million other possibilities. Terrorists must be laughing their heads off.

I've not checked, but can envisage spammers could be stuffed in jail in the US? Kinda excessive as usual :-)

I dont mind it much just delete it but when I get cp and beatality spam I get pissed even porn it's not right to be sending this smut to people even kids. Something more need's to be done about that.

I hated telemarketers until it became against the law for them to call me.

If you guys followed a "do not spam" list, people wouldn't hate you. Then again, you would be out of business :)

So this impressed the masses and they were like "Wow! AOL r0x0rz my s0x! I love getting emails! Especially with cute smiley faces! YAY!". And everytime they heard "You've got mail!" they would get an adrenaline rush. Then when spammers started filling those inboxes to the brim and people checked their mail... uh oh... no more presents. It took away the excitement for some people who have nothing better to do but sit in chat rooms and (((((((((hug)))))))))))))) their ao-buddies 22 hours a day while their kids are eating ketchup sandwiches because they won't walk away from their computer for 10 minutes.

Well I got spam for these database lists extracted from whois and tried to get off. I called, emailed and complained. The result is they spoofed my address and sent out their crap.

Now I get to spend the next few days going throught all the complaints for something I had nothing to do with.

The only benefit is they put their toll free number in the message so hopefully it will cost them if enough people call.

So give them a call if you want. 1000 people calling will cost them good. 10000 might take away any profit they see. If all of us call, we probably could get the list at a discount when the company goes bust.

look at the known spammers on GFY they stand out because they are a bunch of stupid children,

spam is not needed and help to destroy the internet along with spamware and adware,

its for the people that are looking for a quick buck,

i hate all spammers. people who stick up for them are also other idiots who cant make it in this business so they have to turn shady.

To me, it is no different from consoles, pop-ups, audible banners, 'groups' knocking at your door (not including charities), physical mail spam, and etc.

seed ur list to ever 100 or even every 50 emails.

seed ur list to ur own email account.

then tell us if u enjoy that or not.

Its obvious who the spammers are on this board.

Note.. top the people who say they recieve 150+ spam messages a day. Change your email address? Or change your email provider. I do recieve about 4 spams a day, but 90% of the time filters pick it up. I agree with that popup, adware comment. I have noticed on some sites I promote the surfer will get stomped with 5 or 6 exit consoles. Now that some can say is unwanted.

**Also for the person who made a post about it being in their childs inbox. How old is he/she? If they are not old enuff to hear/read some porn emails... then they are simply not old enuff to be using the computer unsupervised. :2 cents:

You could say that of a lot of people ...

Just take tgpers for example, they mass distribute the porn for free, make ratios go lower and lower, and get minors to see porn .

I have.. haha I let a friend of mine borrow my laptop for school purposes. He returned it. It seemed like it was running at like 12 mhz and 1 mg ram. Bombarded with spyware.. it got to the point where I was like fuck it and gave to goodwill. I still need a new laptop.. :(
