404 redirection question
I've only been in this biz since July and never even considered the amount of galleries I would be making when organizing files on my server...so I made a big fucking organization mistake.
What I would like to do is reorganize those files and maybe even delete some galleries that are over 8 weeks old and redirect the 404 traffic to either my tgp or to a sponsor page. So my question is this...should I do this? Is this a bad thing to do that will eventually lead me to getting banned? I am not wanting to do this...but the problem I am running into is it takes a damn long time to log into my server when ftp'ing because of my dumb ass mistake. Any ideas, answers, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thx, eros |
If you're not getting any traffic to those galleries anymore, it should be okay. I've also seen CGI scripts that can redirect the traffic to the new (correct) URL, but I have no idea where you would get one of those. Check http://cgi.resourceindex.com

I've got a few mistakes in my own structures. Nothing too serious, but they do have an impact. I have 404'd some stuff that was older than 30 days, but try like hell not to. |
Thank you very much for your help both of you.
I have learned a very valuable lesson to say the least http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif eros |
