I was approached today about leasing out my live cam feed and I got to thinking that it could be very profitable but then again I dont want to get greedy, so I cam to this conclusion, http://www.candicecam.com is going to start leasing out the feed plus chat for $200(USD) per month, Is this a reasonable price?
I figure after putting my partnership program at %70 recurring with candice$CASH$ http://www.candicecam.com/webmasters.htm and NOW this, I am anticipating a good response from my fellow webmasters and make some people some money, since the site is so new(less than a week) Im getting about 300 hits a day but I have 9 members already:-), things are looking up and I would like to thank the people that have given me advice and suggested some things, thanks again fellas:-)

$200 is quite cheap for live feed...

You should probably look at charging based on the amount of bandwidth each individual site uses. You could really get killed in costs if some of the sites that lease from you get hacked or you were picked up by some of the larger sites. Check out pornication for a general idea of how much you can charge.

well , my webcam software 1s hosted on another server with inetcam.com so my bandwidth really isnt an issue , the only other thing i can think of that will cost me is my isp, but they seem to be cool with the idea:-)

You might re-think this, especially if someone else is hosting it.

I need to get a couple of webcams. (Not really for porn stuff, more for keeping in touch with family)

Which cameras would you suggest and why?

If you can find some second hand, the 3Com Home Connect webcams were really very good, excellent picture quality. They discontinued it a while ago, probably because it was a premium product in a market dominated by cheap competitors.

However, plenty of current webcams are quite good, such as the Logitech Quickcams.

As for software, if you're just talking to family and friends, using Microsoft Netmeeting which is bundled with all post-95 versions of Windows will suffice, it has decent picture and sound quality and you can't argue with the price. There are lots of other videoconferencing systems out there aimed at the home user, like cu-seeme, paltalk, seesaw, ivisit, icuii, ipsq and so on.
