i'll take songwriting and great singing over screaming and nosey guitars any day.

panters is all well and good. but it's a far cry from the musical genius of green day.

the joke is the fact that you don't see it. anyone can write the angry music pantera has put out.

green day has arrangement, and melody. but apperently that is a foreign concept to people of lesser intellect.

not to mention some great lyrics.

Nismo 12-13-2004 07:46 PM

I was a big Green Day fan back in like 1993-1995 back when I was 12-15 LOL

Not to mention Pantera (out of all bands in their genre) are rather amatuerish at best, at least nothing to write home about. Listen to any of the last 2-3 green day albums, the arrangement is great. the guitar overlay texturing, vocal arrangement, and the MELODY are, yes, ingenious. not to mention the lyrical content. Shit, dimebag darrel is gone, Hurray, another idiot dead, the earth is a little fucking lighter. :)

green day was long established before mtv thanks. and a word aout the punk scene. the moment anyone gets big, the masses shun them because 'if it's popular it's no punk'.

but what these trendy little posers don't realize is that punk rock is about being yourself, not wearing spikes and listening to crappy 3 chord music.

have you even listened to the last 3 green day albumns? or are you just making this shit up?

flashfire 12-13-2004 08:40 PM

the new cd is really good and I enjoy listening to it...thats not saying anything about pantera or any other band

hottoddy 12-13-2004 09:24 PM

Cool riffs, but Green Day's lyrics make the poems on the walls of Mrs. Johnson's special-ed class look genious.

I'm a long time fan since Slappy Hours. I was 9 when I was listening to them. They are a great band, and that isn't in doubt at all. Punk disowned them because they found some mainstrem success. Somebody infor the little punks: Your scene is, and has been dead for quite some time.

I just saw them last weekend ate thr Hard Rock Hotel.. GREAT show. They played the entire album from start to finish, and encored with "We are the champions". The have as much energy now as ever.

The addition of the extra guitarist has added some nice texture as well. :Graucho

Saw them at Lollapalooza about 10-
years ago. They put on one of the
best performances of the day:thumbsup

crowkid 12-13-2004 10:51 PM

don't care for politics in my music, that's why the new Green Day cd is absolute shit, not to mention its new pussy radio friendly sound.... Once artists get political that's when I lose interest.....Love the American Idiot song, hopefully it contributed to GW's re-election just as Fahrenheit 9.11 did...LOL

QuaWee 12-14-2004 12:20 AM

went out and bought the cd the other day from Werehouse and its pretty decent. I enjoyed their first single the most.

Project-Shadow 12-14-2004 01:34 AM

Wow, i've got nothing against Green Day I was merely stating that if you wanted to listen to 'punk' then go for something more original.

The statement about when a punk band becomes popular they suck is actually pretty true. But thats because they sell-out and play what's good for MTV G kids.. think about it, when was the last time a REAL punk band took the spotlight? All we've got is punk-pop - Sum 41, Blink 182... need I go on?

Metal on the other hand will always be that [hopefully], no sugar coating, no be good to kids for sales.. they play what they want to play. Either way anything with a guitar is music to my ears so... rock on! http://www.hpics.com/gfy/eddie.gif

rannor080 12-14-2004 01:38 AM

:stoned not me, dude!

Twe Russ 12-14-2004 01:40 AM

fuzebox 12-14-2004 01:41 AM

American Idiot is a sweet ass album :2 cents:

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 12-14-2004 01:44 AM

i love the new greenday cd...:thumbsup

..but why the fuck did you censor "fuck" in your title.. on a site that is called Go Fuck Yourself?

nofx 12-14-2004 01:47 AM

f*ckn ?

ROFL this is the internet, say whatever the FUCK you want, I fail to see why people censor themselves.

green day fucking rocks, although their newer stuff i sorta dislike, their older stuff will forever remain rocking out in my brain.

greenday has evolved a quite a bit from its first album, they have some pretty great stuff, not a big fan of it all but its well done.

tASSy 12-14-2004 11:43 AM

i heard american idiot was supposed to be better than the who's album, that's saying a lot. i still haven't listened to it though.

:rainfro

xclusive 12-14-2004 11:45 AM

Comparing Greenday and Pantera is like comparing apples and oranges I like both of them and depends on my mood as to what cd I pop in...

That's good to hear....I was pretty shocked that they sounded so horrible.

Now I wanna go to a concert......nickelback anyone? :Graucho

demented 12-14-2004 12:00 PM

Kerplunk and 1039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours were the best albums IMO. Going To Pasalacqa is probably my fav song of theirs. I have the live version mp3, and it's just amazing. If anyone wants it let me know.

Olix 12-14-2004 12:26 PM

I love boulevard of broken dreams.

x-vision 12-14-2004 12:29 PM

Yes, great song. Doesn't matter that green day basically plays all power chords, still a great band.

actually, that is a grown up song if you listen to the lyrics but hey, Pantera is good too.

Still say Time Of Your Life is one of the most grown up pop punk songs I have heard.

I saw Green Day with Pansy Division years ago just before they became too massive to be all that punk and went punk pop. The saddest thing to come from them are all the clones that think they can do it too.

Still take the clash over them though :)
