UK clothes size compared to USA?

For example what would a 34 for trousers (pants) be in the USA..

The only thing that is fundamentally different are shoe sizes :)

women's sizes are a size bigger in the uk.

So, if an American woman is a size 12 when she comes to the UK she should be looking for a size 14.

I still don't get the shoe conversion to be honest. I know it make my feet sound small over here and they are huge.
