What to do with spare server CPU time / HD capacity / bandwidth?
 

Something that doesn't involve any work and preferably makes some money.

No spam, hitbots or any such crap pls.

I got 4 extra machines and a shared T1 at the office I wouldn't mind putting to use either :)

Something P2P related would be great. I remember swapbucks used to do something like this but they kinda disappeared.

Personally I bank all my spare time and cache in a high interest account and then trade the time for either extra holiday time or for it's cash value at the end of the year when I re-new my flex benifits.

we have seti at work, i know it doesn;t do any money making but better than being idle :)

Do nothing - the server hardware will likely last longer - less prone to premature failure.

1. I have exactly the oposite problem. There are so many ways to make money that I'll never have enough bandwidth. With that said lets proceed to number

Buy some pics - check with the content guy that you're allowed to write your url on the pics and can use them for P2P (sounds funny but you better check)
Lets say you have 5 pics. Replicate these 5 pics to 100000 pics and rename them.
I used to use my TGP descriptions to rename the files e.g.

hot teen with big tits.jpg
asian babe giving head.jpg
etc - you get the drift

Put all these pics in your shared folder you'll get a lot of downloads and even if 1% of the people that download them go to your website it's 'free' traffic. Oh and don't preach me on the low quality of the traffic. Lots of peolpe are doing it and they are doing for a reason.

Of course this can be done on much biger scale but...........

We used to do the same thing, traffic is pretty crappy though.

Like you said though, it's free traffic.

You just gotta figure out if the traffic is worth the bandwidth bill.
