Were older sitcoms better life teachers than today's sitcoms?
I'm just checking out some old shows on this "deja vu" channel... Family Ties, Growing Pains and so on....
seems to me that most episodes are funny enough, but always come down to the "do you choose to be popular or do the right thing?" type of situations... all these moral dilemmas they end up having to go through and then explaining stuff. Seems to me that people learned a lot more from television 10+ years ago than they do these days. Your thoughts? |
Im so ready for more 30 minute sitcoms VS theses lame ass reality shows. Reality shows will be going the way of the low card fad, which is showing a slow down in slumping sales figures.
Its off the topic I know but its gfy right?:Graucho |

For some reason I like all the older, more tame shows better anyway. Growing Pains is great.

Everything I know, I learned from watching "Charles in Charge" :Graucho

I think older sitcoms are better...the new one's are so crappy. :(

yes archie bunker has always been the best for children

Sanford and Son is still the greatest comedy of all time. Hands Down. I learned a lot from Fred Sanford.
I would even go as far to say that my own humor was based on watching sanford and son while I was growing up. And since Richard Pryor did a lot of the writing for Sanford and Son, my humor is really based on Pryor. |

All this stupid ass reality shit, and lame ass "Joey" , whats the point in watching TV
|
yes!
i learned alot from (dont laugh!! lol) Save By The Bell on how to deal with normal teenage issues and learned from Roseanne about relationships actually. Sitcoms these days are all about comedy. Nothin like back in the day. |
These are all great shows... Sanford and Sons was a huge one, the guy was such a prick but always did the right thing... was always a good guy.
Fresh Prince... damn that show was amazing, started out as the funniest thing on tv and ended up being a huge life lessons show and still maintained the comedy. Seinfeld... well, I agree.. there's a reason it is still aired often. And that the dvd's are selling out like mad. I wouldn't say that these shows need to be on 24/7 again... but I would love for these new shows that are on now to have a little bit of that wholesome goodness, instead of just going for the cheap laughs. |
FreshPrince of Belair was the shiat..!
|
i think they were. :2 cents:

Sitcoms, (what's left of them) are unwatchable these days, unless you include shows that aren't really sitcoms, like Curb Your Enthusiasm or Trailer Park Boys. One of the happier days in my life was when they pulled that horrible show Friends off the air. (Sadly they replaced it with Joey, which is even worse).
