How afriad of germs are you?

Being brought up by a microphobic mother, I find myself shying away from people when they sneeze or cough in public. This city official must be worse than I am.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention no longer recommend that people sneeze into their hands because that makes it easier to spread germs.

lets be real here. germs come out when we talk.. we just don't see them.

There is no such thing as 'germaphobia'! Believe it or not there is something called 'germanophobia', which is 'one who dislikes or fears Germany, its people, and its culture'.

EDIT: I see it when I search Google, but there's no mention of it at dictionary.com, weird.

This is a perfect example of just because you see it on Google, it doesn't necessarily mean it's true. For example, there are numerous mentions of the word 'germaphobia' when you do a search for it, but you'll notice that it's all from message boards, home pages, and other such sites.

If you search legitimate reference sites you'll see that there are a few phobias relating to germs. They are mainly spermatophobia, verminophobia, spermophobia, and nosocomephobia.

I wear a sars mask and carry a bar of soap, whenever I go out :winkwink:
