Official Dr. results in... I'm gonna be a daddy

Well, all the tests and final checks done... she's pregnant!

Although, the doctor scared us with the "around 35% - 40% of pregnancies don't make it passed the first 3 months" thing... he really didn't have to tell us that.

Anyway, for obvious reasons, I won't be in Vegas now... so I hope you all have a cigar on me :batman

Ice 12-10-2004 03:11 PM

35-40%, had no idea it was that high.

so the baby will be coming when exactly (assuming the usual 9 months)?

congrats man :)

They say you take the last day of her last period, and work it out from there to give you an idea of exactly which day it *should* be.... and so, we worked it out and the special day came to July 31st, 2005.

Which is scary, because July 31st is my mom's b-day!! What are the odds??

That's why you have to wait 2-3 months before making an announcement.

I knew a guy at work who announced it like 2-3 days after and she lost her baby 2 weeks later.

It's like, everyone was asking about the baby, imagine the pain he felt when he had to explain the situation 4-5 times a day..

Always wait 2-3 months.

cool1 12-10-2004 03:45 PM

Well congrats officially then.
I am happy to hear that.
Prepare now for those nites with no sleep.

yeah, but the excitement is too much, besides, the actual "getting pregnant" thing is worth celebrating enough. If we lose it, so be it.... wasn't meant to be. But I'm just happy to be at this stage :)

I didn't either, but I guess if you add in the teenagers, homeless, drug addicts and so on... it could be that high.

Indica 12-10-2004 04:32 PM

calculate from the FIRST day of her last period to get her due date :)
Congrats daddy, your in for a world of fun. :)

Well, unless he thinks you fit into one of those categories I am surprised he would even bother mentioning it.

Did he mention she should refrain from bungee jumping for the next 9 months as well? :)

Trixxxia 12-10-2004 04:44 PM

It's great news!! Congrats to both of you!
She really has to take it easy for the first three months - don't let her vacuum - don't let her pick up heavy things - no strenuous work for the first three months.

FredIsMe 12-10-2004 04:46 PM

congrats MaskedMan and Mrs. MaskedMan I'll have a cohiba on you :thumbsup

Shortbread 12-10-2004 04:46 PM

I think that 20-30% also includes people that don't even know they are pregant until they lose it. Probably also includes abortions, because if you think about it, they don't make it to 9 months either. But anyways, congrats Stuart!

Chris 12-10-2004 06:10 PM

My girl is due jan 7th
so if the baby pops before jan 1st ill be in vegas

JFK 12-10-2004 06:14 PM

Congrats :thumbsup :thumbsup

Elli 12-10-2004 06:18 PM

omg congratulations, Stuart! Give her a big hug from me!

That's the first time I've heard a statistic like that from anyone. If they thought it was that bad odds, wouldn't they send her for extra tests or something?

Actually it's closer to 10 months :) ANd the high percentage rate is mostly due to stupid women, or women who don't know their pregnant and do things like moving furniture etc. I almost lost two of my babies in the first three months...

Congrats Stu, to you and Nat.

Yeah, seemed odd to me that he'd say that.... I dunno, I am pretty certain that everything will be fine... and like I said, if not.. then it wasn't meant to be.

Until then, I'm more than happy enough just knowing that it's happening so far :)

Violetta 12-10-2004 06:23 PM
