not resale my content ?? ? ? ?

you folks offer content that is not yours for download, no wonder most aren't running to promote you :2 cents:

Shap 12-10-2004 12:06 PM

Stop using stolen content as your means of making a living. Regardless of how you try to spin this you steal from each and every paysite owner on gfy.

Dawgy 12-10-2004 12:13 PM

why dont i just send you an invoice for all my stolen content that you're making a profit on?

thats my terms.

As a paysite owner, I disagree with your point. I don?t care if my content shows up on Usenet, and likewise GUBA. I view it as a means of free traffic. I?ve generated hundreds, maybe even thousands of sign-ups from Usenet postings.

And, if you are concerned about stolen content, then I think that GUBA is a better than usenet as a whole because if you contact them they will immediately take your shit off the site, which is more than can be said about usenet as a whole.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

One thing you newbs gotta learn, shap is ALWAYS right in what he's saying .

NoCarrier 12-10-2004 12:34 PM

I don't understand how you can promote with a clear conscience that sponsor.

Why promote alt.binaries with 10000000 of stolen pictures and movies..

And don't give me the "Well, at least they are paying for it since they can get it for free anyway" pathetic answer..

The content producers won't receive one fucking cent from GUBA. Unless they have a special deal I don't know of.

keyboard warrior 12-10-2004 12:38 PM

How did this get pinned?

dustface 12-10-2004 12:39 PM

We are happy to remove any content that belongs to anyone else. If you see something that is yours, email us. It'll come down within minutes of hearing from you.

Another thought would be, protect your content with DRM before it gets to Usenet. If your content stays off Usenet, it will never appear on GUBA or anywhere else.

GUBA will work with you but we can't tell what has been stollen and what is being used as a promo. It is up to you to notify us. Ask your friends on GFY, we have worked with many of them to protect content.

The_Oracle_Porn 12-10-2004 12:40 PM

Great idea !

Lets promote a program with CP all over it. :1orglaugh

Sorry, to me this is a crappy way of doing business.

"we're just gonna allow all the content there is out there, then we'll just take it down if anyone actually notices".

Sorry you ain't got my vote, your just doing your part to kill the industry.

BVF 12-10-2004 12:44 PM

And I'm also looking for a few good webmasters and I don't steal any of my content. I produce it all myself.

See Siggy.

Dawgy 12-10-2004 12:49 PM

this reminds me of 1997...

"all images are conisdered public domain. if you find copyrighted images on our server, let us know and we'll take them down."

Sorry you feel that way. GUBA is simply a web portal to Usenet. GUBA does not own (or claim to own) any content. Filters have been developed to prevent CP and beast content from appearing in GUBA searches and we have the capacity to block out copyrighted materials as well. Unlke CP and beast, GUBA can not always identify copyrighted material. It is up to you to inform GUBA if you feel that your rights have been violated.

Complaining on GFY is fine but if you want to do sometihng about it, this is your chance to protect your content.

Lensman doesn't mind thieves advertising here as long as they pay him. See: yambo, merchsolutions, epic cash, etc.

SL|M! 12-10-2004 01:31 PM

Ya I seen some of my handjob content on your sites a while back. Emailed the person in the registrar info and noone ever responded to me.

some_idiot 12-10-2004 02:03 PM

I stopped sending test traffic and nix'd half the links for the
simple reasons that;

Stats haven't worked right since I started
The login sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
Signup pages just seem plain confusing

I can't ramp up traffic to something I can't really judge the
proformance of.

Forkbeard 12-10-2004 02:24 PM

I cheerfully promote GUBA, even though the referral stats never have worked. Signups are consistent with the traffic I send and almost never have those odd fluctuations that plague other sponsors. Rebills work almost as well as those cheesy 1997 "look how much money you can make!" affiliate pitches promise -- I've never found another sponsor that retains members so well. I can't say enough nice about doing business with GUBA. GUBA been very very good to me.

That said, from my experience if you want to take dustface up on his offer, you'll need to be able to send 50k-75k a day of quality clicked traffic, from search engines and freesites with little or no skimmed, jerked, or consoled surfers, to get 50+ signups.

detoxed 12-10-2004 02:25 PM

LOL

abadfish 12-10-2004 03:09 PM

I agree with what dustface said... If you are upset your content is on guba you should be upset of the newsgroups as a whole...

Don't all paysites put their logos, urls on images for this very reason?

A couple years ago some of our content was on guba and we contacted them... It was removed right away and they gave us an account to monitor in case more was posted...although I never found any after that.

It doesn't matter. GUBA's business is based on stolen content.

What you are saying, is that I could ask people to pay for links to MP3's and offer the songwriters, groups and musical companies to remove those links if it's copyrighted? :1orglaugh

I mean come on..
