Funny to bad I didn't have sex. lol Gf was telling me something about a stupid old wives tale about the day after or day before or some shit so I was just curious. At any rate she is on the pill so no matter.

enough not to take the risk of dumping your load up in the love canal:2 cents:

Keep at least one morning after pill in your medicine cabinet at all times.

infecto 12-10-2004 07:54 AM

I am straight on all this guys I was just curious if there was any truth to the old wives tale lol.

Trixxxia 12-10-2004 07:54 AM

Really depends on her cycle, is she regular? Does she have normal menstruations? Chances are slim - however everything is possible if she's not on the pill & you're not wearing a condom :)

Here's something from 4women.gov:

Your date of ovulation is calculated by subtracting 14 to 16 days from the date of your next period. This is an approximation and may not be exact for every woman. These calculations may not be accurate if your cycle is less than 21 days long or more than 35 days long, or if your menstrual cycle is irregular from month to month.

EDIT::
To add to the 'old wive's tale' - was she referring to this?

You are most likely to become pregnant if sexual activity occurs right before or after ovulation.

Kassidy 12-10-2004 08:55 AM

It's called 'the rhythm method', a form of birth control that has been used for centuries and still performed by strict Catholics. It's based around avoiding sex during ovulation, which occurrs generally about 14 days after a woman's period. It's only about 75% effective though because a woman's ovulation schedule can be tough to predict and sperm can hang around for a few days waiting for the egg.

So, no, it's NOT impossible to get pregnant the day before or after your period, but definitely unlikely.

a woman is most fertile two weeks after the first day of her period.
She CAN get pregnant right after, but most of the time..them eggs take a bit of time to start making their way to where they need to be.

MandyBlake 12-10-2004 09:24 AM

I find it amazing how many people don't double up on the protection!
I'm on the pill and everytime I have sex, the guy wears a condom. True the pill is more than likely going to cover any pregnancy, but what about diseases??? I really don't care to get any stds. I guess I'm one of the few...

That depends.

If she starts to gain weight in a month or so, then very.

If not, you've dodged the bullet.

Try wearing a condom.

They are the most fertile about 10 days after the period give or take a few days

infecto 12-10-2004 10:49 AM

I usually always double up on protection even though she is on the pill but I am not worried about stds from her lol. Not like I am doing any one night stands.

good to see at least a couple people understand the way women work.

and lots of so-called porn meisters are in the dark.

if you know pussy really well you can also tell almost exactly when she is ovulating by evaluating the stickiness or "stringiness" of her pussy juice vs baseline tests.

also there are very subtle body temperature changes that require keeping stats and a very accurate electronic thermometer.

but that is for a more advanced class.

It's also practiced by women - like my wife - who don't want to load up on hormones :)

Guys this is 9th grade health class. I'm amazed at some of the answers.

If she's on the pill like you say, not fertile at all!!!

I've been on the pill 15 years, how the fuck would I know LOL

baddog 12-10-2004 12:38 PM

It has been a while since I have had to worry about it, but I seem to recall two weeks before and two weeks after were the danger zones.

But like I said, it has been a while since I have had to worry about it.

alot of woman practice this, and it actually can work REALLY well if you REALLY know your own body.
There are alot of dif natural signs that a woman is ovulating.
like you've already stated the natural mucas. This is key. If its very sticky, and stretchy..kinda like snot ( gross i know but no other way to describe it)you will notice the difference in your bodys natural lubrication when you are ovulating, if its thick.. Then you are ovulating.
temperatures, but these have to be monitored for months before you even attempt to use this as a form of BC.

Back when I was with my first ex-wife we got involved with this study for a brief period (pardon the pun) of time, where they had this "new and improved" rhythm method.

I remember being in a group of the participants whne they were asking how you could tell when the chick was getting ready to ovulate and I said you could taste the difference.

The room went so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

My parents are strict Catholics, and used the rhythm method. I am the eldest of 12 children.

My mom told me she got pregnant on every approved form of birth control the the Catholic Church condoned, except one, the St Joseph's Method.

That is where you hold a St Joseph's Aspirin between your knees, and pray a lot.

Cyndalie 12-10-2004 01:23 PM

Unfortunately the pill is a necessary evil for those of us who have lost an ovary at a young age. Loading up on hormones is a small price to pay to preserve future fertility. But damn does it drive me nuts! Even my license plate has PMS on it (thanks state of FL. real nice acronlym there) LOL Im thinking of suing for emotional damages and subsequent harassment. At least no one tailgaits me anymore.

Bama 12-10-2004 01:34 PM

You should tell her that it is EXTREMELY likely and that you'll either need a blow job or some butt sex!

LOL!!
