Telemark anyone? (Video)
Not me in the video (I do not have a VidCam as of yet), but let's just say we have the same sensei. (A few hundred days from four seasons, ump-teen thousands of dollars, torn tendons, ligaments and a shit load of morphine.)
Yes, I also rip shit up, but it just so happens FlyinRyan has technology on his side. Note: You may want to turn your system down a little, as the music is not for all. (Various qualities of the same video) 38mb Mpeg 17mb WMV Get yourself a real system (3mb WMV) |
nice man! where do you ski mostly? what's up with the boilerplate? shouldn't you be making us all super jealous with sick canadian pow shots?
|
yeah, where's the sweet pow vids? ;)
Nice to see some other freeheelers on the board though. We should meet up for turns in Whistler! |

HELL yah, freeheelers are bein represented - by an olive mutha, that knows how to throw down ... his heel! I'd watch it ...an offer like can make a junkie like me quite work, sell everything, jump on a bus and ski till I hear my knees a poppin ... and then some. I am planning a trip to Mnt.Washington as well Whistler. Once I have the details, I will ping yah. |
Kind of boring.
Telemarking moguls is like doing balet in a hip-hop strip club. Who am I? Nobody really anymore in skiing, but I'll challenge anyone that posts here to a mogul contest during the presidents holidays (Feb 16th-21st) this year @ Mammoth Mountain. BTW - you shoulda played mozart with that video - woulda been more fitting. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sleep :sleep :sleep |

I hit Salt Lake City this past weekend.. for first of the year warmup Pics |
(I expected at the least one troll-like witty retort.)
It's not for everyone - too hard/painful, and a steep learning curve. You limited to the bumps, or have you even tried to Tele? Any BC, jibbin or steep? Some of the P?troller (alpine ? touring or regular ? or snowboard) that I know, who tried it, liked it, and dumped their grey-tray or bondage sticks. Yah, so what colour is your one-piece? White with neon pink & green highlights! Sporting an ADIDAS headband? |

Been snowboarding since 1981 and was one of the first snowboarders ever let onto a lift legally (Sugar Bowl CA) I just like skiing much better and I'm better at it than the other, although - I can hold my own on a board being a skater for 29 years. I competed for "King Of The Hill" bump series with Glenn Plake (The skier guy with the Mohawk) and place second with him several times. Steeps, cliffs, bumps, powder, speed, free-skiing, crud, corn - doesn't matter to me - I'll ski right under the chairlift if that's where the best line is - I aint skaerd - you? Aerials? I can do front flips, back flips, helicopters, double heli's, heli w/backscratcher, double & triple twists, combo's... and I've caught some pretty big air @ Squaw Valley's Palisades - Chimney Chute (75+ ft) Becks Rock (35-125 ft) and Kirkwood's "Once is Enough" 25 ft (with no-turn run out) and anywhere that you could do at least 7 window washers with your arms. Speed - well, I've bombed almost every major mountain in Cali and was clocked @ 85 MPH in Kirkwood with a police speed gun. I haven?t really skied much in the last 15 years - but I've been training alot lately to make a comeback to that sport & skateboarding just because I miss the high. I have a real job now, being a ski bum is cool when you are in your 20's but I prefer eating something other that ketchup & boiling water from the cafe to make tomato soup & top ramen & crawdads from lake Tahoe for dinner. And BTW - I've never worn a one-piece in my life but I'll have to admit to wearing neon in the eighties before it was cool and I wore it because it was obnoxious!!! Our motto was what we yodeled from the mountain-tops "FUCK YOU... WE DO WHAT WE WANT!!!!" |
LOL ? awesome to read ... Glenn is the man - he understands freeheelin and is an excellent ambassador to any/all shooshing disciplines!
I do not like any politics amongst us sliders (with the exclusion of blades!) but I do get tired of persons, who have never pinned or busted loose for their bindings, telling me it is boring or not demanding. Only masochists Telemark! Last year was my first time down the Delirium ... and I must say ... WEEEEEEE |
to the outside observer it is kind of boring to watch, pov is right
honestly I'd rather see him hucking his ass off a cliff on normal skis.. . |
Quote:
P.S. Freeheeler's do huck, jib and etc ... just not many of us around. It has been called the most difficult of all snow sports ... but i am sure some will disagree with that ... like bladers LOL. I will post video from the Tele cross & extreme comp once I get home ... so to allow yo uthe chances to develope a non-bias opinion. |

POV Porn guy, Tele-jibbin, from what I have read and seen, is the biggest craze in Cali right now, taking 'extreme' (Sorry, I really hate to use that word, but eh.) to a different level.
One maniac said: once he removed his training-heels he never looked back. To see do a corked 720 (stuck) is inspiring. It has been a pleasure, and if I get to cross the border soon, I will take you up on that offer, if still extended, Remember, no walkin the poodle on the slopes! |
