A suggestion to alleviate the massive need for a search engine...
 

I find, when surfing GFY, that a search function, if only a limited one, would be highly useful, so I came up with an idea that would make certain the main board wasn't slowed with constant searching, and maybe make Lensman a little money.

I think a 3-4 day limited search function for free, coupled with a pay-only archive board for those who want to search way back (costing, say, 5-10 dollars a month) would be a really good idea. A few other high-traffic boards I frequent use the same system, minus the subscription fee, in order to allow for both speedy surfing and the ability to search deep back.

It would cut out bullshit threads and make people happy. The subscription fee might only cover the hosting cost in the end, but I think people would be willing to pay for that ability. What does everyone, especially lensman (whose opinion seems most important on the matter), think? I know I'm a n00b, but even we little bastards have a good idea sometimes. Of course, if this has already been brought up, I apologize, but I really have no way of knowing whether or not it has. :winkwink: Just throwing it out there.

I think that's a good idea. I wouldn't mind paying $5 a month for full GFY search.

It'd have to be a good one though.
