Xmas coming soon, poor peoples...

Xmas coming soon, in 2004 there is still poor peoples, in Canada, USA, etc...

I'm not that rich, even If I was... i still have heart... but some of my neighbors may needs helps but they don't ask, its kinda hard to ask strangers for money... I don't know what should I do, go to the grocery store, to buy food, give them checks, or money, gift certificat, or simply going to toy'r'us, walmart, grab some toys for their kids? What would you to? What do you do for poors?

If you can't afford to donate something, deliver Christmas hampers.

At least you're contributing and it'll put some things into perspective.

I agree. But not all poor people can work. What about real old people, people who are disabled etc...

There are more poor people in our country then you can imagine.

I will give some charity money to the shelter for dogs and cats in my area. They do a great job, and work for free. But of course the animals need food/cleaning stuff, doctors etc.

My dog is coming from a shelter as well, and I enjoy every day with him.

An anonymously left basket of food and gifts on their door step when they wake up on xmas morning is always nice. Especially if they have no clue as to who left it. Leaves them with their pride intact if they dont have to ask.

I sent a $500 check to Greenpeace with a special note - "only for Sea Animals".

I like hands ups rather then hand outs. Hand outs do nothing but fuel the ego of the giver and doesn't do anything to truly help the recipient. It's like the old saying "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." :2 cents:

If donating to charity fuels one ego, it must be mighty fragile to begin with.

Depends on how friendly you are with your neighbors...

Neighbors that we chill with are getting some really nice cookies that my wife makes from scratch.

I got a few tins from target for $2.00 a piece that are xmas-y to place the cookies in and card for each and they are ready to hand out to the crew here.

Its not that much cash and to me, homemade cookies say alot more from a friend at holiday time than anything they can get me at the store, I'm lucky enough to get pretty much anything that I want.... Its time with my freinds and crew to just hang out that is in short supply at times....

I'd like more time to hang with those I dont get the chance to that often for xmas :)

I didn't say anything about giving to charity, I said giving "hand outs" is an ego trip, because hand outs don't do anyone any good, they just make the giver feel good about himself when in fact he hasn't changed anything for the better. That's why I prefer hand ups rather then hand outs.

Wanna help? Buy a few new toys and bring them to your local Marine Corps Recruiting Office - they run the Toys for Tots program, and will make sure that local needy children will have a Happy Christmas

:thumbsup
