Trying to buy a computer in Toronto...

Anyone know any companies that will actually get back to you with a quote and deliver when you order it? I've been getting run around in circles for a couple weeks now by a few companies. Store suggestions most appreciated!

Indica 12-08-2004 01:37 PM

ordering online?
Why not just take a trip to your nearest bestbuy or futureshop..sweet deals out there right now.

dready 12-08-2004 01:44 PM

If you're downtown, I always just go to Canada Computer Warehouse on College St. GreyTech in Markham is good too.

Oh wait, you're in Oakville right? Not too sure...

Avoid Futureshop and other kind of crap like that. NCIX is in Vancouver, I know it's the opposite way but they do kick ass, Phone them or other online they'll ship it to you via Purolator or expresspost lightning fast, and if you ask them to call you for the shipping date they'll do it.

My :2 cents:

I bought 3 there this year , love the 6 months no interest , no pay:thumbsup

NCIX is the way to go. Good prices and fast delivery

Vitasoy 12-08-2004 02:01 PM

A lot of people from Toronto order from NCIX, cause they only get charge 1 Tax... :-)

Plus they price match competitors... even ebay sellers some times!

Agreed, waste of money buying commercial pcs.

For one thing they use cheap pc parts. You don't get to pick your prefs in models/brands...

They're over priced... plus they're not that upgradable. (If you plan on upgrading like HDS)

Only first timers or family household (that don't know much about pcs) buy them....

I ordered my system from their Mississauga location weeks ago, it ended up a screaming match on the telephone two days ago when I found out not only did they lose my order the first time, but they just didn't bother to build it the second time... I've requested a new quote from the College location and I'll probably go this route, but damn....

I have never ordered anything over the phone from them. I always just drive over to the store. Keep in mind they are ESL'ers ( at least at the college street location) and customer service is most defintely NOT one of their best points. Their prices are usually about the best around.

I've always used their Kingston location (Due to where I used to live) and they were always the best to deal with by far (They had a English First Language woman running the store -- Made things a lot easier). I'm not looking forward to driving downtown just to drop off the deposit though. Wish they'd take my CC over the phone or something.

I always just go and buy all the components I want from them at the College store and build it myself.

Normally I would, but I want a nice clean install this time since the stupid case I ordered has a window in it (Why can't they make a 5 fan case that doesn't have a window?!). I'm a messssssssssssy computer builder.

dready 12-08-2004 02:43 PM

I HIGHLY recommend the Antec Sonata case if you don't have one yet!

This is the case I've got on my quote: http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/Damier/v5000a.htm I'm open to suggestions for cases that are comparable with pre-installed fans. I don't want to muck with anything, I just want to plug it in and get to work.

The Sonata is designed to be quiet... and with just the fans it comes with it is very cool. Ergonomics are really impressive.
