pps vs. revshare

does the fine line between PPS and revshare truely depend upon the faith you have on the sites ability to retain or the fact that your faith in your surfers not to stay determines which one you choose?

polish_aristocrat 12-07-2004 01:49 PM

Good question, but the answer is: both :)

candyflip 12-07-2004 01:50 PM

Hmmm...that's a good one to ponder for sure.

For me, I just like an even mix of PPS and Partnership. So there are more things to factor in that just what you mentioned.

TheFrog 12-07-2004 01:50 PM

Depends a lot on the site being promoted

Manowar 12-07-2004 01:51 PM

i tend to go for PPS myself, but i can see Revshave being profitable on sites that are packed full of exclusive and great content.

sean416 12-07-2004 02:01 PM

yeah, I like 50% of what im promoting to be PPS and the other 50% to be revshare. I see revshare as longterm and PPS as short term, so when I first started to make ends meet I had it at 75/25 for PPS.. and hopefully once im more established it will be like 90/10.. How I decide what is Revshare and what is PPS is based on the site only, nothing to do with my traffic. If its a cookie cutter site thats like a dime a dozen, PPS. If it's a niche site that really holds its own in its own specific niche.. then revshare.

sean416 12-07-2004 02:03 PM

BTW, that gif in your sig gives me the shivers. lol

groark 12-07-2004 02:04 PM

Hm... I think you should use revshare on fetish sites where recurring is very possible. For sucky mainstream sites you should use PPS.. Well I have no idea lol

beemk 12-07-2004 02:04 PM

i would say a mix of both. i prefer pps, but most of my sponsors are revshare simply because most pps programs sites arent as good or are just saturated.

Kevsh 12-07-2004 02:10 PM

I look at it like the comparison between risky stocks and safe ones. If you want a nice, steady revenue PPS is more predictable - with steady traffic you have a good idea what you're going to pull in each month. With rev share it's more of a gamble - if you do only rev share you may see really good months and really bad ones.

A good mix is probably best as others have pointed out. A solid base of PPS with some recur/rev shares can give a nice, unexpected bonus some months.

SkyWalker 12-07-2004 02:12 PM

Yes, a good mix is best.
But if you have any doubts as to quaiity of the site go with pps.

BuckLover 12-07-2004 02:14 PM

I did a poll on this about 1 week ago! few people seemed interested in participating:glugglug

cocky 12-07-2004 02:14 PM

I do 75%pps - 25%rev.

One quick trip through the Members area is all I need to decide. and if a program won't give out a temp pass, it's pps all the way.

that too!

fedfest 12-07-2004 03:55 PM

Both.. Send your SE traffic to revshare and your tgp traffic to pps and you'll max out on both imo.

really hard for me to do well with revshare if there are trials

SykkBoy 12-07-2004 04:23 PM

you need a good dose of both

one thing I find amusing though is when people say 'go with PPS if it's generic" um, if that site is generic and won't retain, how do you think they are able to pay you $30-40 PPS? that means there is more aggressive marketing ahead for your surfer...

I would just be repeating things already said in this thread if I mentioned long term and short term...

true, so ask your sponsor if they'll allow a no trial option.
You'd be amazed at how flexible revshare programs can be with something like this...especially if you are already sending traffic.

Yes, we at EvilGeniusCash offer a no trial option as a way of being flexible for out affiliates. You should also see if the sponsor will allow you to view the members area.

FrankHolland 12-07-2004 04:36 PM

I would say 75% pps and 25% revshare.
