Have your pcs' ever done this?
Everyonce in a while, one of my comps starts buzzing at the office when I turn in on and does not stop untill I turn it off. I open the pc up and I have no idea where the buzzing is comming from. The heat sink fan is working fine, and all the other fans are working fine also. Any A++ gurus?

Could be your harddrive.
Just kick the computer case and it should stop...at least thats what i do. |
Its 7:00 am and I am sitting at the office tring to figure out what the buzz noise is and refreshing gfy to find a banner that I missed. Dont you hate the unproductive days?

My motherboard's fan is broken, and it makes annoying noise.

I am pretty sure it has to do with the harddrive. I am going to run a backup of the pc, and then start kicking it.

But I don't think it's because of the harddrive. On this computer it's when i leave a cd in the cd player. |
its not the cd rom drive for me, I am sure its the harddrive . I am going to go pickup something from the computer store today. I searched online and found some tools that people in the recording world use to keep their pc's quiet.

unplug everything that requires power from a wire and turn on power.
If you still hear it then its the power supply fan. |
good idea.

While your system is still functioning, do a thorough backup and verify the backup.
Then resume tinkering... :2 cents: -Dino |

|
Nope never :helpme
|
its the CPU fan, had that prob before.
|
or perhaps its you videocard fan..
|
Sounds like your harddrive. In my experience get ready for a crash
|
yess!!.... i just kick it... and done! no sounds :1orglaugh

turn off the pc, unplug all the fans then turn it back on. If the buzzing is still there then you'll know for sure that's it's not any of the fans (only one you can't unplug is the powersupply one)
Then listen very carefully insinde the case so you can pinpoint the origin of the buzzing. |
