I poked some fork punches into it so it doesnt explode - wrapped in handi-wrap - cooking now - how long for the perfect baked potato?

flashfire 12-07-2004 04:54 AM

I must have a low watt microwave - I put it in for 10 minutes and it's still not done - about half done

this is a good meal for late night - glad a picked a couple up last trip to the store.

so here's the story so far:

wash potato - cut our eyes - punch fork into potato several times - 18 minutes oh high in microwave - wrapped in handi-wrap - mash that mother fucker up with a fork - add butter - sour cream - mild shredded cheddar cheese - hormel real bacon bits - lots of salt - game on bitch!

mardigras 12-07-2004 05:27 AM

I wrap mine in a paper towel. If it's a big potato, put it in initially for 10 minutes, then rotate it 1/4 turn and give another 3-5 minutes depending on size. After microwave goes off, leave it in there another 5-10 minutes and let it finish cooking itself.

Hum well I know this sounds really really odd but I love my baked potato with soy sauce.

I usualy put soy sauce, some butter and pepper on it super yummy..

it's not weird - liquid salt basically

cool - I think i will try the paper towel next time instead - handi-wrap worked pretty good though - save a tree - hehe

MissMiranda 12-07-2004 05:31 AM

yup, with a slight flavor to it for extra goodness.

I would like to know why restaurants dont carry fucking soy sauce???

I go to some place that has steak and potatos and they dont have any.. that pisses me off

Did you know that cooking items in any sort of plastic in the microwave increases your chances of cancer?

Something new is on the news daily trying to kill you every goddamn day. even breathing is dangerous to your health. just live your fucking life.

You're supposed to wrap it in a WET paper towel, that way it absorbs the moisture as it cooks , speeds up the whole process

:thumbsup

why both? but - it makes sense - to pressure cook right?

Kimmykim 12-07-2004 06:39 PM

A damp paper towel wrapped around it and about 9 minutes for big ones, 7.5 for smaller ones in my microwave is how I do it.

Depends on your wattage as to how long it takes...

comeplay 12-07-2004 07:00 PM

wrapping it on tin foil probably wouldnt do anything if it was on some sort of a plate or bowl only when its setting directly on the bottom of the microwave will it arch

Red Ezra 07-14-2007 05:38 AM

I actually forgot how long to cool baked potatoes - I love the search function :)

Madame0120 07-14-2007 06:10 AM

rub it with some oil, lightly salt the skin, ONE poke, and zap it. If you put it in a 400 degree oven for 5 mins, it will taste more like a baked spud, not amicrowaved one.
