Then it's NOT a gift to her, is it? A gift is something you can't take back. If you tell her it's a gift for her but keep it in your own name, it will only damage your relationship with her and the trust between you. If someone gave me something as a gift but made it clear he or she could take it back any time, I would take great offense to it and will refuse the so called gift and end the relationship right there.

If she doesn't have a car and you just want to help her out, either loan her the money or buy a cheap car and let her borrow it until she gets her own. But don't call it a gift just so you can make yourself feel better.

I'm not hating man but the 'gift' part can bite you in the ass. I know what love is like and have done the same thing for my woman but just so you know, keeping it in your name is not a guarantee that she couldn't take the car if you ever split.
